Still a maiden after eight attempts with a second at Wolverhampton (6f) being his best effort of late in early January. Hood tried last time out retained here as he gets a try at 7f a trip that should suit better as 6f has looked inadequate in his last few starts.
14 starts and yet to see the winners enclosure. Well below form when just fourth in a small field seller at Wolverhampton last time out. Usually runs in claimers and sellers and even in this low-grade handicap, looks to have plenty to do off this mark.
Tried over various trips in maidens where he failed to show much and not much better when switched to handicaps. Offered little over this C&D last time out in first-time blinkers taking a very strong hold and racing wide. He would need to show more to take a hand even in this grade.
Modest maiden whose best runs have come in low-grade handicaps at Kempton off marks higher than the one she runs off here. Appeared suited by the surface when making her Fibresand debut last time out but will appreciate a return to this 7f trip.
Showed very little in three maidens but looked to have made a small step forward when upped in trip for her handicap debut at Wolverhampton over 7f. Back down in trip last time out at Kempton in first-time cheekpieces saw her run to a similar level but she should be suited by a return to 7f.
The only winner in the field with a victory gained on her last start over C&D off a basement mark in an incident packed race where the favourite (and one other) refused to race. She was well backed though and is consistent enough but may struggle to follow-up even with only a slight rise in the weights.
Just one vaguely modest piece of form to his name when finishing second at Haydock over 5f on his third run. Not come close to that form since and the opening handicap mark of 65 is now a distant memory.
Ran progressively worse in three maidens over 6-7f and didn't really do much more when making her handicap debut last time out over C&D behind Tigerfish.
Visored for the first time on handicap debut at Wolverhampton over 7f he was left poorly placed but showed more than his final placing suggested. Ran a similar race last time out over C&D behind Tigerfish where once again he was given plenty to do. It may well be that he can show more here and if ridden a little closer to the pace he can be seen to even better effect off what is still a lowly mark.

Forecasts
Mr Strutter (9/4), Tigerfish (11/4), Joyful Dream (7/1), Bartholomew J (7/1), Masquerade Bling (9/1), Rockalater (9/1), Hold Me Tight (14/1), Arya Stark (25/1), Young Officer (33/1), Valley Lodge (50/1)
With just one previous winner in the field this offers a chance to the majority of this field to get off the mark although that sole winner Tigerfish does set the standard having won over C&D last time out. However BARTHOLOMEW J despite finishing behind Tigerfish last time out looks as though he’s building up to something if giving a more positive ride. The trio of Arya Stark, Mr Strutter and Masquerade Bling will all appreciate the return or the step-up to 7f and can make their presence felt in this weak affair.
1. Bartholomew J
2. Mr Strutter
3. Masquerade Bling
