Opened his account last time out when winning a small field seller over 7f at Wolverhampton in a first-time visor which is retained here. Good value claimer who took the ride last time out keeps the ride here as he returns to handicaps and it remains to be seen if he can back this up off what looks to be a tough mark.
Has shown steady progression in three maidens over 7f and a mile and showed her best form last time out at Kempton finishing third. Claimer ridden last time out when back down to 7f on her qualifying run and makes her handicap debut here off what looks to be a reasonable mark with the same claimer on board.
Modest form so far in maidens with a similar level of form in all his starts over 7f (first two starts) and a mile last time and makes his handicap debut. Yet to show much in maidens although handicaps may show him in a better light off what looks to be a reasonable mark.
Had five tries on the Flat with three coming on the AW and showed his best form last time out over C&D on his second start in a handicap. Handicapper has raised him 3lb for that effort when second to Tisbutadream (won subsequently) and he looked a little unlucky in the race failing to gain a clear passage and then finishing well.
Faced difficult conditions when making his debut (on turf) at Catterick in October and has improved a little since then switched to the AW and upped in trip. Still looked fairly modest on his latest run as he steps into handicaps for the first time on another new synthetic surface as his two previous AW runs came on Tapeta.
Has plenty of experience as this will be his 13th run and although he only has one win to show for his efforts so far, he does have some strong form to his name. Still looked well ahead of his mark when second over 7f here last time when left with too much to do and looks very dangerous left on the same mark with the mile trip looking to suit.
First run for this yard having previously been with David Simcock and makes his handicap debut after three runs in maidens. Ran well enough to suggest that he could win handicaps off a mark such as this with a solid fourth on the Southwell Fibresand last time out and has a top pilot at this track booked; remains with potential for better to come.
Has one effort to his name that stands out when sixth in a Kempton maiden on his second start over 6f. Poor effort on his handicap debut at Chelmsford when very easy to back but showed a little more when second at the same track last time out on his first start as a three-year-old. That run showed he would be capable of picking up a small handicap but he faces a couple of improvers in this.
Yet to win after six starts with the last three runs coming in handicaps. Handicapper has left her on the same mark here but she looks as though she could do with a furlong or so further to show her best.
Took a marked drop in class at Southwell but didn't appear to handle the unique surface at all wearing a first-time hood and is dropped another 3lb here, returned to a more conventional AW surface and would be interesting on his Goodwood nursery run.
Managed one modest win last year from plenty of attempts in a maiden claimer at Thirsk over a mile. Has registered two decent efforts in handicaps off slightly higher marks than today's for her former stable (John Quinn) but ran poorly on his debut for her new yard at Kempton Park recently.
Forecasts
Auric Goldfinger (7/4), Ourmullion (4/1), Beauchamp Opal (11/2), Delfie Lane (8/1), State Residence (8/1), Baby Helmet (8/1), Georgio (14/1), Sandy Shores (16/1), Oakley Pride (25/1), Greyjoy (25/1), London Grammar (100/1)
Ourmullion's form looks strong given the subsequent win of his conqueror last time out, although he’ll need a clearer run to show his best. Both State Residence and Delfie Lane will have their supporters and the former in particular looks as though he could prove dangerous off a mark such as this on handicap debut with Kirby booked. AURIC GOLDFINGER might not have as much improvement in him as some of these but the change of tactics look to have brought about some improvement and the handicapper has taken a real chance leaving him on the same mark for a rather unlucky run last time out.
1. Auric Goldfinger
2. State Residence
3. Ourmullion
