Switzerland vs Colombia

This could be a really good, competitive game to round off the last 16 stage. Both Switzerland and Colombia have impressed at the World Cup, especially the latter against a tougher schedule.

The South Americans finished top of a group containing Portugal and dominated the Europeans in their meeting, and were far better than the 1-0 scoreline suggested against Ghana.

Switzerland meanwhile topped a poor Group B featuring Canada, Bosnia and Qatar, before sweeping past an average Algeria side in the last round. The Swiss are yet to be tested the way Colombia will test them here, and I was close to pulling the trigger on a win for the South Americans at 13/10.

Instead, while perhaps more than hope than anything, I think there could be cards here. The referee Ivan Barton was the man who showed Miguel Almiron his marching orders against Türkiye for covering his mouth, only to then refuse to dish any further cards, so we could get a no carder or a hatful.

Hopefully it's the latter, and GUSTAVO PUERTA TO BE CARDED appeals at 13/5.

Puerta has been carded once already at the World Cup and will be tasked with containing Johan Manzambi and Breel Embolo who are both good foul drawers.

Puerta has committed 2.06 fouls per 90 at the tournament so far, but his card record domestically caught the eye more than anything.

In 32 games for Racing Santander, Puerta picked up 13 yellows and one red at an average of 0.47 cards per 90.

Score prediction: Switzerland 1-2 Colombia (Sky Bet odds: 8/1)
