Christopher Ward Watchmaking Handicap

Finished ½-length second off 2 lb higher mark last summer. Had looked at the top of his game prior to underperforming at Glorious Goodwood and lost all chance at the start in York handicap subsequently. Weighted to be thereabouts if handling conditions (only raced on good/good to firm).

Improving 4-y-o. Solid form when off the mark for the year at Southwell in late-July. Did really well to pull the race out of the fire when following up in this grade at Sandown last time. Has good prospects of completing a hat-trick off 4 lb higher, even with a less-than-ideal draw.

Travelled with zest/added to a fine course record when recording a fourth career success in a 0-90 Epsom handicap last time. Has proven effective away from that track and can't be judged too harshly on his previous runs off marks in the 90s.

Confirmed the form of his Doncaster near miss when 3¼-length third in a 1m handicap here last month. Since found life tougher in a stronger handicap at York but remains on a potentially handy mark with Danny Tudhope taking over (healthy 26% strike rate for yard this season).

Hit hard for a comfortable success on final start for William Haggas at Ffos Las (7f, soft) and hasn't landed a blow in a couple of starts for current yard.

Steadily progressive Starman colt. Found plenty when doubling his tally in likeable fashion at Southwell last month. Only edged out late by a pair played slightly later when ½-length third in a similar event at York since. First-time cheekpieces may well eke out a bit more improvement here.

150,000 gns New Bay colt. Looked a good prospect when winning 6f novices at Yarmouth/Leicester, the form of the latter franked by the second. Didn't repeat that effort when beaten 5½ lengths on handicap debut at Thirsk (6f). Too soon to discount given his pedigree/connections, though is drawn wide.

Ground-versatile type who made a successful reappearance over C&D (good). Never landed a blow when beaten 7 lengths in bid to make it 3-3 at this track last time. Now only 1 lb above his winning mark here in May, with good-value claimer back aboard.

Resumed progress with success at Ripon in May. Has dipped below that mark for the first time since and pretty much confirmed his return to form when beaten 5¾ lengths in first-time cheekpieces in Ayr Bronze Cup last week. Versatile regards ground/trip and has each-way claims from a handy draw.

Strong form when second on debut at Redcar (good) last winter. On the up winning 2 of 4 starts on all-weather this season, justifying support with more authority than the 1½-length winning margin would imply at Wolverhampton last time. Remains capable of better on just his second turf start.

From a fine Juddmonte family. Showed improved form to get off the mark on all-weather at Deauville (6.5f) on final start for H-F. Devin yard. Shaped encouragingly when beaten 5½ lengths on return/U.K. debut at Chester. Perhaps his excellent yard's second string on jockey bookings, though.
