Age: 4| Weight: 10-2| J: Toby Moore⁽³⁾| T: K R Burke| OR: 80| D

2/1

In great form of late, winning at Hamilton in July and coping very well in softer conditions to land Goodwood handicap just last week by length from Oliver Showby with bit in hand. Carries a 5-lb penalty and firmly enters calculations in current heart.

Form: 452121

Lir Speciale³⁵

Age: 7| Weight: 10-1| J: Shay Farmer| T: B Ellison| OR: 84

15/2

Ended 2025 with back-to-back wins over 7f in the mud at Doncaster. Best effort this season when short-head second in apprentices handicap at this course over 7f in June. Had 2 quick-fire runs at the Galway festival, though failed to see his race out both times. Eased in grade here.

(1)

Alpha Capture^b²⁵

Age: 6| Weight: 10-1| J: Donagh Murphy⁽³⁾| T: Roger Fell| OR: 84| BF| C| D

11/1

Course winner. Landed 7f Doncaster handicap in June. Has generally continued in form, staying on when second of 10 in Beverley handicap over an extended 7f last month. No reason why he won't give another good account.

Form: 212022

(18)

Rajapour^p,t¹⁵

Age: 6| Weight: 10-1| J: C J Whiteley| T: D O'Meara| OR: 84| D

28/1

Best effort for a while when scoring with plenty in hand at Redcar (1m) in July. In midst of running creditably when taking a late spill over C&D next time. Bounced back with another success over 1m at former course last time. Draw hasn't been kind.

Form: 941F51

Proud Nation³⁶

Age: 3| Weight: 9-12| J: Ethan Tindall| T: R A Fahey| OR: 86| C

14/1

€320,000 breeze-up purchase who confirmed debut promise when winning class 2 maiden on this card last year. Shaped up well in defeat on first 2 starts in handicaps but ran poorly at Goodwood. Yard going better now.

Form: 21-3520

King Casper²⁹

Age: 4| Weight: 9-12| J: Oliver Carmichael⁽³⁾| T: A Brittain| OR: 81| D

40/1

Failed to go on after winning at Newmarket (1m) last April for Hugo Palmer. Off 10 months before returning in July and has a bit to prove on both showings this season.

Form: 5090-08

(7)

Dwindling Funds^p²⁶

Age: 5| Weight: 9-10| J: Lauren Young| T: J S Goldie| OR: 79| CD

11/2

Likeable type who won 6 times during a remarkable 2025. Had been knocking at the door this summer and added to his tally in 15-runner event over C&D (good to firm) in July, that a first win outside Scotland. Found run of good form coming to a halt at Hamilton 26 days ago.

Form: 042219

(16)

Son^p⁸

Age: 5| Weight: 9-10| J: Jake Dickson| T: T D Easterby| OR: 79| BF

12/1

Ex-Richard Hannon gelding who has been shaping up well without winning for his new yard this season, beaten 1¼ lengths when third at Beverley 8 days ago. Cheekpieces go back on and looks competitive on form.

Form: 340623

(11)

Melvin Udall^p⁶⁶

Age: 4| Weight: 9-9| J: Harry Vigors| T: G Harris| OR: 78

50/1

Made a winning seasonal/stable debut at Doncaster (7f) in March but below par since in 3 outings. Needs to take a step forward.

Form: 14-1970

(19)

Daydreama¹⁶

Age: 3| Weight: 9-9| J: Alfie Redman⁽³⁾| T: T D Easterby| OR: 83

40/1

Good second over 7f at the Dante meeting here in May and back in that sort of form when edged out by Noelan Star at Ripon (third past post but Command The Stars demoted after causing interference). Struggled in a deeper C&D handicap last time. Should do better eased in grade but draw no help.

Form: 907820

(9)

Advance Twentyfive^v²²

Age: 3| Weight: 9-8| J: Oliver Hoodless⁽⁷⁾| T: R A Fahey| OR: 82| D

50/1

Broke duck at Chester over 7.5f in July in first-time visor, though was off the bridle much of the way in rear and went in snatches. Ran a stinker at Ripon last time and has something to find.

Form: 5-60719

(12)

Callisto Dream¹⁰⁷

Age: 4| Weight: 9-8| J: C Horgan| T: E Bethell| OR: 77| D

20/1

Looked promising when winning 2 of first 3 starts but didn't kick on during second half of 2025. Off 7 months, took advantage of drop in grade when winning 10-runner Pontefract handicap on return in May by nose from Selection. Absent a further 3 months but already has a good record fresh.

Form: 13397-1

(4)

Illy's Roo²⁹

Age: 3| Weight: 9-3| J: Molly Keegan-Price⁽⁷⁾| T: G Tutty| OR: 77| BF| CD

12/1

Made a winning start for this yard at Southwell in March and added a C&D success in July from having dropped to same mark. Not in the same form either start since and others are preferred.

Form: 777154

(15)

Be Frank⁸⁶

Age: 6| Weight: 9-3| J: Owen Lewis⁽³⁾| T: Ian Williams| OR: 72

40/1

Scored on 2025 return at Newmarket and turned in several creditable efforts after. Off 9 months and not seen to best effect with sixth of 11 in handicap at Chester (7f) in June, nearest finish. Back up in trip though draw could have been kinder.

Form: 36545-6

(8)

Canvas^p1²²

Age: 4| Weight: 9-3| J: Mikkel Mortensen| T: S Dixon| OR: 72| CD

20/1

Last year's winner who reappeared with a promising fourth at Newmarket in May. Not in same form in 3 subsequent outings but his mark continues to fall. Back down in trip and the cheekpieces go on.

Form: 70-4096

(6)

Substance^t¹⁵

Age: 3| Weight: 9-1| J: K S McHugh⁽³⁾| T: M Walford| OR: 75| D

25/1

Made a successful handicap debut at Roscommon in May for Joseph O'Brien. Stepped up on stable debut when 1¾ lengths second of 10 to Rajapour in handicap at Redcar (1m, good) 15 days ago. Has fewer miles on the clock than most and has to be on the shortlist.

Form: 410362

(2)

Barley^p¹⁸

Age: 7| Weight: 8-13| J: Olivia Haines⁽³⁾| T: T D Easterby| OR: 68| D

8/1

On a very long losing run but his good runs outweigh the bad this season. Shaped as if still in good heart when making frame at Carlisle last time after meeting trouble. Each-way claims.

Form: 333244

(3)

Empirestateofmind^b⁴³

Age: 8| Weight: 8-12| J: Jack Dace| T: J & S Quinn| OR: 67| CD

16/1

C&D winner. Only reasonable effort this year came when fourth of 8 at Ripon in April and he's hard to fancy on recent showings.

Form: 409950

Forecasts

Inspired (2/1), Dwindling Funds (11/2), Lir Speciale (15/2), Barley (8/1), Alpha Capture (11/1), Son (12/1), Illy's Roo (12/1), Proud Nation (14/1), Empirestateofmind (16/1), Canvas (20/1), Callisto Dream (20/1), Substance (25/1), Rajapour (28/1), Be Frank (40/1), Daydreama (40/1), King Casper (40/1), Master Richard (40/1), Melvin Udall (50/1), Advance Twentyfive (50/1)

INSPIRED arrives in great form and can follow up his Goodwood success last week under a penalty. Alpha Capture has been a model of consistency this season and should be thereabouts again, while the 3-y-o Substance can't be ruled out on just his third start for current yard. Of the rest, Callisto Dream and Lir Speciale can't be completely ruled out.
