Runner-up in a Doncaster listed race on reappearance in March. Struggled to make an impact in 6f Group events since. Drops in class/trip but probably needs a career best to defy top weight on handicap debut.

Top-end sprint handicapper who landed last season's Ayr Gold Cup. Enhanced his CV with handicap success/Group 3 second in Meydan over the winter and looked as good as ever when 1 length fourth in a competitive Ascot handicap last time.

Produced a career best when smooth-travelling winner of C&D handicap in May. Ran a cracker from a less-than-ideal position when third from a 9 lb higher mark in the Epsom Dash. Must enter calculations in his current vein of form.

Went with plenty of enthusiasm when an impressive winner of a strong Ayr Silver Cup (6f, soft) last September. Still well treated on the merit of that form and clearly wasn't himself in Wokingham on reappearance (reportedly bled). Could be worth another chance under good-value apprentice.

Capitalised on a reduced mark when recording an easy success at Doncaster last month. Less effective when unable to get to front in competitive events since and likely to be a similar story on this occasion.

Thriving when notching a second win in 3 starts in a useful sprint at Windsor last month. Likely still in form when beaten just over 2 lengths at Ascot latest. Yard going great guns but he may just find this a tad too competitive.

Won a solid 3-y-o C&D handicap for Alice Haynes at this meeting 12 months ago. Has looked an improved model in winning twice from 3 starts for current yard, always holding on when scoring by a neck from Rapper's Delight at Southwell last time. Looks one of the more likely winners.

Lightly-raced 4-y-o who seemingly hasn't been the easiest to train. Put up a couple of useful performances under returning David Egan at York last season. Below form since but tongue strap/cheekpieces now added following a pipe-opener last month. Worth checking if market expects a revival.

Ran a cracker when fifth in 2025 Stewards' Cup. Arrives in a similar vein of form following 2 wins in his last 3 starts, coming from a less-than-ideal position to score by a head from Rapper's Delight at Newmarket latest. Best recent efforts have come under Saffie Osborne. Makes plenty of appeal.

Speedy 3-y-o who made all in 5f handicap at Chester in May. Bounced back to form following a no show in the Palace of Holyroodhouse when going close in a 5-runner event at Sandown latest. Looks vulnerable back in a competitive, big-field handicap, though.

Strong-travelling mare who won 3 times in 2025. Has returned in rude health with nearer misses here/at Windsor before an encouraging 1-length fifth in competitive Ascot handicap last time. Return to this track will play to her strengths and a big run could be in the offing.

Sole success came when impressively landing the odds in Southwell novice in 2025. Narrowly held by Naana's Sparkle/Twilight Calls on her most recent starts, though has less mileage than that pair. One to consider for stable with strong hand in the race.

Took advantage of reduced mark when getting up late under Jamie Spencer over C&D in May. Some mitigation both starts since and has been given a chance by the handicapper. Could bounce back for yard enjoying a resurgent season with their sprinters.

Useful sort who went close over C&D in May. Showed a nice turn of foot to open his account for current yard at Doncaster last time. More needed off 4 lb higher up in class, though big-field handicap/likely strong pace will suit his style.

Relishes softer conditions but was very useful winner of Shergar Cup event on good to firm last summer. Had fallen long way in weights prior to close second in Dash and subsequent third at Chester can be marked up (forced wide). Still looks on a very handy mark and has to be high on the shortlist.

Verdict

TWILIGHT CALLS was back to something like his best when successful at Newmarket last time and is still attractively handicapped (7 lb lower than when fifth in last year's Stewards' Cup). He has plenty of pace drawn around him and could be poised to follow up. Improving sprinter Naana's Sparkle is next best, with Vintage Clarets, Lexington Blitz, Candy and Glamorous Breeze all worthy of consideration in a wide-open renewal.
