Mick Rose Turns 70 Handicap

Four-time course winner (all at 1½m). In the frame both starts here this season, taking an extra place late on when third of 8 over 1¾m here last month. Should give another good account.

Disappointing on the whole last year and shaped as if he'd need the outing when sixth of 7 in handicap at Ripon (2m, good) 16 days ago. Drops quite markedly in grade here, though, and he's interesting with cheekpieces back on

In good form over hurdles this winter and belatedly opened his account on the Flat when scoring in comfortable style at Wolverhampton in March. Unseated through no fault of his own back over hurdles at Kelso since and he's of interest returned to the level.

Finally off mark at Newcastle in November before completing a hat-trick at Southwell in February. Perhaps found the race coming too soon when last of 5 there only 4 days later but has a likeable way of going about things and he's considered back on turf after a 3-month break.

Ended a long losing run at Carlisle (1¾m) in June and made frame on 2 of final 3 starts last year, with excuses on account of testing ground over 2m here on final outing. Ran well after 6 months when second of 8 at this course (1¾m, good to firm) 19 days ago and she's shortlisted.

Off mark at Newcastle (2m in August and went down by only a neck in 5-runner race there the following month. Underperformed when last seen and is returning from 7 months off here, so others make greater appeal.

Won 4 times over hurdles at up to 23f last summer. Disappointing in the face of market support sent handicapping at Lingfield last month but left that form behind to take a 5-runner event at Salisbury (1¾m, good) 8 days ago, digging deep late after forcing pace. Makes appeal under a penalty.

Second on the Flat at Newcastle in January but ran poorly there was last seen on the level and did so too back hurdling at Market Rasen last month. Others preferred.
