Adonius²⁴

Age: 2| Weight: 9-9| J: Kaiya Fraser| T: R Menzies| D

10/3

Looked useful and speedy when winning twice over 5f at Musselburgh last month, particularly impressive when scoring by 7 lengths on debut. Should take a bit of pegging back from the inside stall.

Form: 11

Final Appeal¹⁵

Age: 2| Weight: 9-4| J: C Lee| T: K R Burke| D

5/1

Inns of Court colt who was a close second on his Nottingham debut and had no difficulty going one better at Wolverhampton (5f) 13 days later. Can be expected to improve again for his top stable.

Form: 21

(5)

Hickory Lad⁷

Age: 2| Weight: 9-4| J: Rowan Scott| T: Phillip Makin| D

11/4

James Garfield colt who showed plenty of ability when runner-up on debut at Thirsk and confirmed those impressions with a smooth success at Musselburgh (5f, good) last Wednesday. There is more to come from him.

Form: 21

(3)

Wait Geordie³¹

Age: 2| Weight: 9-4| J: Oisin Murphy| T: H Palmer| D

7/5

Made a winning start to his career in a 5f Bath novice (good) over Easter and much respected for a local stable which targets this meeting.

Black Treasure

Age: 2| Weight: 8-13| J: S H James| T: Ollie Sangster

50/1

Foaled April 17. €30,000 Blackbeard filly. Half-sister to several winners, including 9.5f/10.5f winner Krunch and 1m winner Saccharose, both in France. Yard can ready one so worth a second look in the betting.

Cailin Aine¹⁶

Age: 2| Weight: 8-13| J: D Allan| T: T D Easterby

50/1

Invincible Army filly who offered plenty to work on when third of 9 on 5f Redcar debut (good) 16 days ago. Open to progress but a good chunk of improvement will be required to take this.

Form: 3

(2)

Yahaira¹⁹

Age: 2| Weight: 8-13| J: K Shoemark| T: Tom Dascombe

40/1

Down the field on Bath debut 19 days ago. Trainer no stranger to success in this (including 2024) but she'll need to take a huge step forward to have a say.

Forecasts

Wait Geordie (7/5), Hickory Lad (11/4), Adonius (10/3), Final Appeal (5/1), Yahaira (40/1), Cailin Aine (50/1), Black Treasure (50/1), Fern Clyde (50/1)

ADONIUS has to concede weight but the speed he's shown suggests he could take some catching from stall 1. Hickory Lad is another who has made a bright start to his career and is preferred to Hugo Palmer's Bath winner Wait Geordie for the forecast spot.
