No improvement switched to handicaps towards end of last season but reappearance sixth of 12 over 1m at Lingfield earlier this month represented a step back in the right direction. Down 2 lb and, with this stiffer test a likely plus, he's well worth a second look.

Out with the washing all 4 starts in maiden/novice company but represents a top yard and it's entirely possible that the combination of this stiffer test, switch to a handicap and first-time cheekpieces will ensure that he's seen in an altogether better light here. Watch the betting for clues.

Little impact in 3 runs over 7f but her pedigree screams middle distances and improvement may well be forthcoming now that she moves up in trip for this handicap debut.

Offered precious little in 3 runs as a juvenile (gelded since latest appearance) and Darkest Red appears to be the stable first-string judged on jockey bookings.

Modest maiden who put in a good shift when third upped to this trip on the all-weather at Lingfield last month. Wasn't seen to best effect tried over 1½m at Kempton next time and she's not without each-way hope back down in distance here.

Responded favourably to the first-time cheekpieces/switch to turf when coming from off the pace to land a 1m handicap here last week. This trip should be within his range and leading claims under a penalty with Silvestre De Sousa again in the hot-seat.

Plenty of stamina on dam's side and signed off 2-y-o campaign with a respectable third in a Chelmsford handicap over this trip. The hood he sported that day is now omitted but wouldn't be without hope if able to build on that latest effort back on turf following a break.

Little to shout about in 4 starts over 1m for James Ferguson at 2 yrs and gelded ahead of this reappearance and handicap/stable debut.

No impact sole 2-y-o start and hasn't fared much better in couple of runs over 7f on the all-weather since returning from a break in February. Conversely, she has almost certainly been brought along with handicaps in mind and this Cracksman filly is of strong interest now pitched into one.

Has failed to improve for the switch to handicaps the last twice and she's hard to recommend.

Forecasts

Lucky Sevens (15/8), Keep It Classic (11/4), Darkest Red (5/1), Sea Mehalah Run (5/1), Montu (11/2), Cracking Anna (12/1), Fletcher (16/1), Private Project (18/1), Karios (28/1), Sporty Socks (28/1), Out In The Cold (125/1)

Verdict

Hopes can be high that SEA MEHALAH RUN will leave her low-key 2-y-o form well behind now venturing down the handicap route and upped to a trip more aligned with her pedigree. She gets the nod ahead of another potential improver in Cracking Anna. Cases can be made for a handful of the others, particularly Darkest Red, while recent course winner Lucky Sevens has to enter calculations and, given the yard he represents, Keep It Classic is one to note in the betting now pitched into a handicap.
