All 4 wins gained on the AW, latest of them over C&D in April. Right back to form returned to a synthetic surface when a career-best third in a C&D handicap 4 weeks ago and looks set to go well again.

Winless since 2023 but has posted some creditable efforts on turf this year. Unable to land a blow from disadvantageous draws on his last 2 starts and is once again wider than ideal here, so others more persuasive with visor reapplied.

Smart sort at best but recent evidence would suggest he's firmly on the downgrade.

Won at Wolverhampton in October and was better than ever when scoring again in a 10-runner handicap at Chelmsford City (6f) 27 days ago, driven out. Can make presence felt.

C&D winner on handicap debut in January, without looking the finished article. Respectable return from 8-month break when fifth of 14 in handicap (20/1) at Doncaster (6f, heavy) 40 days ago. First run for yard after leaving Jane Chapple-Hyam. Still looks a shade high in the weights.

Better on AW than turf based on recent form and shaped as if still in good heart when third of 8 in handicap at this C&D 35 days ago, nearest finish after a slow break. Respected.

Not long with this yard and shaped well when sixth of 11 in handicap (9/2) at Newcastle (7.1f) 15 days ago, doing too much too soon. Makes polytrack debut. Cheekpieces back on. On a very handy mark and has to be taken seriously back at 6f.

Two-time winner over 6f on turf this year and ran well following 4 months off when second of 8 in C&D handicap. Disappointing at Newcastle last time, though, so bounce-back required.

Didn't really kick on following a winning reappearance at Windsor (6f) in May but more signs of life when fourth of 14 in handicap (16/1) at Southwell (6.1f) 13 days ago, faring best of those held up. Looks competitive on form.

Four-time winner here but has fired only once this season and 2 starts after a stable-switch haven't bore fruit. Hard to hard faith in at present.

Forecasts

Mesaafi (15/8), Carbine Harvester (85/40), Valley Ofthe Kings (15/2), Buccabay (17/2), Fifty Nifty (9/1), Trouble Man (12/1), How Impressive (14/1), Mr Cool (16/1), Twilight Jet (28/1), Northcliff (33/1), Zero Carbon (40/1), Fresh (40/1)

Verdict

FIFTY NIFTY shaped better than the bare result on his second start for Mick Appleby latest and looks ready to capitalise on a much-reduced mark. Buccabay is another that has become attractively handicapped and did well under the circumstances to make the frame at Southwell last time, so makes the shortlist, with course-specialist Carbine Harvester and in-form Valley ofthe Kings also shortlisted.
