Fair Flat winner who got off the over hurdles in a 2m Taunton maiden in February. However, he has found it tough going switched to handicaps in this sphere since, including on recent return from a break at Newton Abbot, and it's probably best to look elsewhere.

Registered latest success in 18.7f handicap hurdle at Southwell in March and resumed from a break with an encouraging effort on the Flat at Kempton last month. That run will have blown away the cobwebs and he's one to consider off a workable mark.

Suited by the emphasis on speed when recording a second career success at Taunton last December. Didn't shape at all badly when third in a 6-runner Kempton handicap (21f, good to firm) on recent reappearance and will be a threat if responding well to first-time cheekpieces.

Solid bumper form and was going the right way over hurdles when fourth at Huntingdon (15.8f, good to soft) in February, shaping second best until late mistakes proved costly. Has failed to build on that in 2 subsequent starts, though, and needs to raise his game now handicapping.

Made all in juvenile hurdles at Sedgefield and Kempton last October and returned to that sort of form on sole start for Daisy Hitchens when second in a Newton Abbot seller in September. However, well held on debut for another new yard at Plumpton recently and now has a point to prove.

Below par in a handful of appearances (most of which were over fences) for Emma Lavelle last season and subsequently sold for just 3,200 gns. However, back on track when landing a 4-runner handicap chase on return/debut for new yard at Newton Abbot and merits respect reverting to hurdles here.

Opened hurdles account at Worcester (2m, good to soft) in May and bettered that when second in a big-field Chepstow handicap (19.4f, good to firm) back from a break last month. Drop back in trip won't be an issue and this 5-y-o is a must for the shortlist.

Won 2 handicaps for Anthony Charlton at the end of 2024 and has finished second on 2 of his 3 starts for this yard, just touched off on his recent reappearance here (18.5f, good). 2 lb nudge fair enough and he should give another good account.

Back on track when doubling his tally in a 2½m Ffos Las handicap (heavy) in February, but he's rather hit-and-miss overall and checked out quickly after a mistake at the third-last on return at Newton Abbot.

Caught the eye in maiden/novice hurdles and similar story in handicaps, again shaping as though this sort of trip is on the sharp side when third at Ffos Las (15.8f, good to soft). On the upside, this stiffer track will help and he's certainly not without each-way hope.

Did it readily when accounting for 7 rivals in a Wincanton handicap last December. Best effort since when third at Taunton on penultimate start in March, but not so good either side of that and sports first-time blinkers back from a 7-month break.

Reached the frame both completed starts in bumpers and stepped up on last November's hurdles debut when second in a 6-runner maiden here (18.5f, good) back from an 11-month absence 17 days ago. Mark for this handicap debut looks fair and he's one to consider.

Justified support with a typically enthusiastic front-running success at Ffos Las (15.8f, good) in May and several good efforts in defeat since, including when third back over that same C&D last month. Now 1 lb lower and he's in with an each-way shout.

Well-treated judged on what he showed for various different yards a few years back, but he's probably best watched starting out for new yard here following a 19-month absence.

Bagged a C&D novice back in February 2023, but it's been largely downhill since and others make more appeal. Yard also saddles Poet's Reflection.

Verdict

If able to build on his solid reappearance second at Chepstow DIRTY DEN may well be the answer. The horse he followed home that day has gone in again since, which makes a 3 lb nudge all the more tolerable. Ugo Bingo pulled a long way clear of the rest when also finding just one too good on his reappearance here and another bold show could be on the way from Joe Tizzard's charge. Chicago Storm, Him Malaya and Jet of Dreams are others to consider in a competitive-looking contest.
