Has a good record fresh and resumed winning ways on first outing since leaving Robert Cowell (sold 14,000 gns) after 10 months off in a 10-runner handicap at Newmarket (5f, good to firm) last month. Lost all chance at the stalls at Ascot since and now heads back up in trip.

Losing run now stands at fourteen but he arrives in reasonable order, fifth of 12 at this C&D (good to firm) 3 days ago. Headgear left off and not without each-way hope with Saffie Osborne on board for the first time.

Left reappearance behind when scoring at Ascot in April and similar form on next 2 starts. Easy to excuse latest effort back at Ascot last month (drawn unfavourably low) and could feature having been dropped 2 lb for that effort.

Useful dual 5f scorer at 2 yrs who ran a cracker down in grade on first outing since leaving K. R. Burke (sold for 70,000 gns) when second of 14 in handicap at Chepstow (6.1f, good) last week, looking well suited by his first try at the trip. Obvious claims from the same mark.

Improved model on AW for this yard and proved every bit as effective back on turf over 5f when runner-up at Sandown in April. Far from disgraced since, again not seen to best effect when sixth of 13 at Goodwood (5f, good to soft) a fortnight ago (not clear run over 1f out). Each-way claims.

Won 3 times as a 2-y-o (including over C&D) but hasn't tasted success since. Too free back up in trip in first-time blinkers when sixth of 7 at this C&D (good to firm) just over 6 weeks ago and has something to prove now. Handicapper given him a chance at least (also been gelded).

Finished runner-up on all 3 starts last summer, latest in 9-runner maiden at Newbury (6f, soft) 11 months ago. Clearly had some sort of issue to have not made the track again until now but he remains with potential now handicapping (has been gelded).

Won 2 of 3 starts last year and having been largely disappointing this year, produced best effort to date having been given a chance by the assessor when second of 9 at Doncaster (7f, good to firm) 12 days ago, nearest finish. Nudged up 2 lb for that and can feature.

Produced his best effort since coming to Britain when scoring at Newmarket in May. Rather in-and-out since, below form when ninth of 11 at Yarmouth (6f, good to soft) 3 weeks ago. Others more convincing.

C&D winner last spring and ran well when third of 11 at Yarmouth (6f, good to soft) 3 weeks ago. Not in the same form over C&D (good to firm) 3 days ago and now more severe headgear is enlisted (first-time visor).

Veteran managed to hit the target twice in 2024 and got back on track returned to the minimum trip when sixth of 19 at York last month. Never threatened back up in trip at Chepstow since and this is a better race than he need contest nowadays.

Ex-Charlie Appleby gelding who ran well faced with a rise in grade when fourth of 14 in handicap at Chepstow (6.1f, good) last week. Low mileage and there's little doubting that there are handicaps to be won with him, so he's a must for the shortlist.

Forecasts

Inishfallen (9/4), Montezuma (6/1), Huscal (7/1), Boxtel (15/2), King Of Light (8/1), Blue Day (9/1), Zoulu Chief (11/1), Brosay (14/1), Bishop's Crown (16/1), Rebel Path (22/1), Emperor Spirit (28/1), Treacherous (40/1)

Verdict

A host in with chances but preference is for KING OF LIGHT, who ran his best race having a first crack at 6f on yard debut at Chepstow last week and Stuart Williams' charge can go one better at the expense of Montezuma, who was a couple of places behind the selection last time and remains low mileage. Huscal bounced back to form when runner-up at Doncaster recently and he can edge out the returning Boxtel for third.
