Produced a career best faced with a perfect set up when winning at Chester (6f) in July. Ran at least as well from a 6 lb higher mark when third of 10 in handicap at Wolverhampton (6.1f, 2/1) since and ought to remain competitive.

Cheekpieces on for first time when resuming winning ways in handicap at Newmarket (5f, good to firm) in July. Run best excused in big-field handicap at Goodwood since having been left poorly placed.

Improved to get off the mark on first outing for this yard (previously trained by Clive Cox) at Leicester (5f) in July. However, wasn't in the same form in a much more competitive affair at Chepstow last week. Tongue strap on for 1st time.

Better on all-weather but wasn't seen to best effect when tenth of 18 in handicap at Ayr (6f, good to soft, 40/1) on most recent turf start, unable to sustain effort after making a move out wide.

Thirteen runs since last win in 2024. Returned to form when fourth of 6 in handicap at Pontefract (5f, good) 18 days ago, though never looked like justifying favouritism.

Has thrived for current yard this season, making it 4 wins from 5 starts in 8-runner handicap at Ayr (6f, good to firm, 6/4) in June, well on top finish. Did well under the circumstances (left poorly placed) when fourth of 12 at Chepstow (5.1f) last week and remains of firm interest.

Verdict

BRAVE NATION is yet to win this season but has run some fine races nonetheless, including when doing some good late work behind Rosenpur at Chester on his most recent outing and, on 7 lb better terms with that rival now, he's fancied to reverse the form and come out on top. Woohoo is thriving for Jim Goldie and looks sure to go well again having done well under the circumstances at Chepstow last week, with Night On Earth and Reservardo others to consider in a highly-competitive sprint handicap.
