Fairly useful gelding. 33/1, first run since leaving Iain Jardine when creditable fourth of 13 in handicap at York (7f, good to firm) 4 days ago. Tongue strap back on and he's a major player.

Mehmas gelding. Dam, French 1¼m winner who stayed 1½m, closely related to very smart winner up to 7f Home of The Brave. Entitled to come on for the run.

Promising sort. Third of 16 in novice (150/1) at Doncaster (7f, good to firm) 11 days ago, running on. Should improve and he looks set for a leading role in this contest.

Twice-raced gelding. 7/2, fourth of 8 in novice at Lingfield (7.6f, good to firm) 20 days ago, slowly away. Down in trip. In good hands but will need to raise his game in order to play a part in the finish.

Forecasts

Modern Times (8/13), Pal Joey (10/3), El Madar (11/2), Travel Agent (9/1), Storm Passage (18/1), Magic Boy (40/1), Ballitore (80/1), Little Beck Annie (200/1)

Verdict

PAL JOEY left his debut form well behind when third in a big-field Doncaster novice and, provided that he copes with this drop in trip, Ben Haslam's charge could be the answer with the promise of better to come. Modern Times sets the standard judged on his creditable fourth in a Class 3 York handicap the other day and he is greatly respected. El Madar is the other significant contender.
