Horse A-Z
€18,000 yearling, £5,500 3-y-o, Born To Sea gelding. Half-brother to French 9f-11f winner Atalante. Dam, French 6.5f/7f winner. This looks a sharp enough test given pedigree and probably best to look elsewhere on debut.

Night of Thunder colt. Half-brother to 3 winners, including useful 6f winner Aramram and winner up to 7f Royal Musketeer. Makes appeal on paper and significant if the market spoke in his favour on debut.

Once-raced gelding who ran to a fair level despite seeming held back by inexperience when fifth of 10 in novice at this C&D (40/1) on debut 19 days ago. Can improve.

Kodiac colt who cost only 2,000 gns as a 2-y-o and didn't offer much in the way of short-term encouragement when last of 8 in a 1m novice here 18 days ago. Passed over.

Sergei Prokofiev gelding who has been strong in betting both starts to date, matching debut form when third in 10-runner Newcastle maiden (7f) in December. Shaped like a return to 1m would suit ideally then but respected as the type who is likely to progress further.

€195,000 yearling, Invincible Spirit colt. Dam, 1¼m winner who stayed 1¾m, half-sister to smart winner up to 1m Sabbeeh. Makes definite appeal on paper and he's worthy of respect on debut in a race lacking depth.

Much improved from debut when third in a Doncaster novice (7f) in July. Couldn't replicate that when sixth of 7 in novice at Newmarket (7f) a month later but gelded ahead of return and surprising were he not capable of better as a 3-y-o.

Kodiac filly who shaped with promise when runner-up on debut in a Chelmsford novice (6f) in January. Similar form when fourth in maiden back there (7f) 25 days ago but will appeal more in handicaps after this.

Forecasts

Al Arbeed (6/5), Indian Spirit (11/4), Stenmark (7/2), Rescue Mission (9/1), American State (14/1), Hush Puppy (20/1), Born Like Me (125/1), Dancing With Drums (200/1)

Verdict

Those boasting previous experience don't set a tall standard so it could be worth chancing one of the newcomers AL ARBEED and Indian Spirit, the former narrowly selected to come out on top before market clues. Of those with form, Stenmark looks a likely type to progress as a 3-y-o having been gelded, and it would come as no surprise to see him feature also.
