Carnival Zain²⁸

Age: 6| Weight: 10-1| J: Aiden Brookes⁽⁵⁾| T: Micky Hammond| OR: 84| D

17/2

Progressive in 2022, winning 5 times. 2023 has been nowhere near as productive so far but he has dipped below his last winning mark.

Form: 5-57980

(2)

Manigordo^p,t²⁷

9/1

C&D winner. Latest win at Beverley in June. Tenth of 11 in handicap at York (1m, good, 33/1) 27 days ago. That was a Class 2 event and he's capable of bouncing back at this lower level.

Form: 424130

(8)

Poet's Magic⁷⁸

Age: 7| Weight: 9-12| J: Jason Hart| T: J & S Quinn| OR: 81| D

16/1

Off 8 months, looked rusty on her Catterick reappearance in May. Off a further 11 weeks since. Yard going well but would need to see market support to consider.

Form: 16225-8

(3)

Tuscan^v³⁵

12/1 and visored first time, last of 9 in handicap at Haydock (7f, firm) 35 days ago. Not easy to make a case for.

(7)

Judgment Call¹⁷

Age: 5| Weight: 9-5| J: D Allan| T: Miss L A Perratt| OR: 74| D

7/2

Latest win at Ayr in May. 4/1, creditable 1¼ lengths third of 7 to Yaaser in C&D handicap (good) 17 days ago. Has to be taken seriously.

Form: 414583

(6)

Bicep⁵²

Age: 4| Weight: 9-4| J: S H James| T: Grant Tuer| OR: 73| CD

7/1

Took his C&D record to 3-3 when seeing off 6 rivals on his reappearance in May. Below par at York and Thirsk since but it could be a different story back here.

Form: 114-108

(10)

Yaaser¹⁷

Age: 5| Weight: 9-3| J: P Mulrennan| T: J S Goldie| OR: 72| CD

16/5

9/2, won 7-runner C&D handicap (good) 17 days ago. Ought to remain very competitive after a 3 lb rise.

Form: 343031

(5)

Alpine Sierra¹⁵

Age: 5| Weight: 9-2| J: Billy Garritty| T: J S Goldie| OR: 71

7/1

Latest win at Ayr (1m) in June but didn't run much of a race down at 7f for the first time at Yarmouth 15 days ago.

Form: 7-15250

(4)

Ahamoment¹⁴

Age: 4| Weight: 8-11| J: J Fanning| T: T D Barron| OR: 65| CD

22/1

Won over C&D and at Ayr in June but thrown in a couple of disappointing efforts since. Bounce back is needed.

Form: 651170

Forecasts

Yaaser (16/5), Judgment Call (7/2), Alpine Sierra (7/1), Bicep (7/1), Tuscan (15/2), Carnival Zain (17/2), Manigordo (9/1), Poet's Magic (16/1), Ahamoment (22/1), Jump The Gun (22/1)

JUDGMENT CALL has a fairly solid record this year and is taken to turn around last month's C&D form with Yaaser, who is also likely to go well again. Bicep hasn't fired on his last 2 outings but can't be left out of the reckoning at a venue where he has a 3-3 record.
