One win from 29 Flat runs. Nineteen runs since last win in 2020. Went close at Carlisle (11f) last month. Well held at Beverley (1½m, good to firm) since but claims if recapturing the Carlisle form.

33/1, first run since leaving Les Eyre when good fifth of 9 in handicap at Beverley (1½m, good to firm) 26 days ago. Less exposed than a lot of these and the step back up in trip should suit him.

Forecasts

The Resdev Way (7/2), Steel Helmet (9/2), My Brother Jack (5/1), King Charles (6/1), Chief Craftsman (15/2), Fighting Poet (10/1), Crossbeau (12/1), Quiet Thunder (18/1), Peruvian Summer (20/1), Harmonious (22/1), Adaayinourlife (33/1), Clooney (40/1), Hartside (150/1)

Verdict

FIGHTING POET reacted well to blinkers when second at Lingfield last time and might be capable of going one better now if the headgear works again. Chief Craftsman was never in it at Beverley last time but had shaped quite well at Carlisle prior to that and could be a threat if back to that form. The step back up in trip should suit the unexposed Crossbeau who completes the shortlist.
