Off the mark at the third attempt in weak Chelmsford maiden last month before following up in impressive fashion on nursery debut at Chester just under 3 weeks ago, relishing the 1f longer trip. Better to come so he's warrants plenty respect given yard's record here.

Likeable performer who landed the odds again for third win at Brighton earlier this month. Not discredited when 4 lengths last of 3 on nursery debut at Newmarket last week but this much tougher and the draw hasn't been kind.

Nicely on top when landing Yarmouth maiden on debut. Well down the pack in the Windsor Castle at the Royal meeting a week later but should have doubled his tally on nursery debut back at Ascot earlier this month, denied a run as the winner was making his move. Major player despite 4 lb rise.

Kodiac colt who shaded a tight finish on his 6f Yarmouth debut in May (second and third won since). However he failed by a long chalk to repeat that form stepped up to 7f in the Chesham at Ascot a month later and has switched yards since. Needs to bounce back on nursery bow.

Made the most of a good opportunity to get off the mark back down at 6f under a good value 5 lb claimer in a Chester novice 12 days ago. Cheekpieces applied for this handicap debut and will need to take a step forward to get competitive.

Kodi Bear colt who put his clear experience edge to good use as he made it third time lucky at Newbury 4 weeks ago. Has the physical scope to think he can continue to progress further so fancied to be in the mix on nursery debut up in trip.

Musselburgh debut winner who resumed progress sporting first-time cheekpieces to make a winning nursery debut at York earlier this month. Up 6 lb but she should remain competitive up in trip.

Made a winning debut at Brighton last month but could only run to a similar level under a penalty 8 days later when fourth at Carlisle. Upped in trip for this nursery debut but a wide draw may have scuppered his chance.

Showcasing filly who made a winning start in comfortable fashion at Newmarket (6f) in May. Unable to build on that switched to the all-weather at Chelmsford 16 days later but given a couple of months off and upped in trip, she's respected back on turf especially given stable's record here.

Plenty of speed in his pedigree and while he failed to threaten in three qualifying runs, he showed a bit of improvement on his nursery debut after 7 weeks off when third at Ascot earlier this month. This is a tougher assignment, however.

Has improved in each of his 3 starts so far, latest when fifth at Ayr earlier this month. Heads into nurseries on a positive footing and step up in trip looks sure to suit.

Left debut behind when quickening nicely to lead late on over 7f at Lingfield (AW) last month. Not so good back on the turf under a penalty at Ascot earlier this month and others make more appeal for win purposes.

Verdict

In a race that has been dominated by prominently-ridden lower-drawn horses in recent years, FAR SHOT is put forward as the answer. John & Thady Gosden's charge should have taken his tally to 2-3 on nursery debut at Ascot earlier this month so, despite being raised 4 lb for that near miss, he's fancied to make amends today. True Statesman heads the dangers chasing a quick-fire hat-trick, while Seductive Power is another to consider in a typically-competitive contest.
