Went close on a couple of occasions over hurdles for Neil Mulholland earlier this year but below best for new stable, well held over hurdles at Bangor (16.6f) 4 days ago. Headgear again left off here.

Definite signs of encouragement in novice/maiden hurdles and better than distance beaten suggests on handicap debut at Ayr latest, a mistake 3 out proving costly. One to consider.

Fair maiden on the Flat. in Ireland. Placed on hurdle debut there in March but well beaten under both codes since, no threat on yard debut at Sedgefield in November. Makes handicap debut.

Juvenile hurdle winner for Iain Jardine last winter. Better effort for new yard when sixth at Market Rasen in July but he failed to back that up back from a break at Carlisle in October.

Scored from this mark at Exeter (18.5f) in April and arrives here on the back of creditable placed efforts in selling company at up to 19f. Expected to remain competitive on debut for new stable.

Flat winner in France who showed fair form at best over hurdles in France. Easy to back and didn't show much on yard debut at Sedgefield (16.8f) 11 days ago and this should reveal more.

Arrives on a long losing run but extended sequence of in-the-frame efforts when runner-up at Sedgefield (16.8f) in November, left behind by winner but keeping on. Should give another good account.

Hasn't shown much at all in maiden/novice hurdles and didn't look the easiest of rides when pulled up on handicap debut at Perth (3m) in June. Still early days but more needed back from a break.

Only one win from 23 runs, but he recorded another good in-the-frame effort when fourth at Sedgefield (16.8f) last month, albeit having no excuses. Should give his running again.

Successful 3 times over hurdles during a productive 2020/21. Very few positives to glean from this season's efforts though, including when pulled up over fences latest.

Fair on the Flat (stays 2m) who showed promise initially over hurdles but arrives here having run poorly on Flat/over hurdles. Mark has eased but others arrive with more pressing claims.

Largely struggled on Flat this summer but arrives here having filled runners-up spot on each of his last 2 starts at Sedgefield (16.8f). One of the likelier types in present groove.

Didn't offer much in bumpers/over hurdles for Shark Hanlon and similarly well held on qualifying hurdles run for new yard in October. Still, not one to write off now getting a crack at handicaps.

Losing run is mounting up but she wasn't disgraced when fourth at Southwell (3m) in November, operating from 5 lb out of the weights. Still, losing run is off-putting.

Placed on 2 of his 3 starts on the Flat as a 2-y-o. Jumping lacked fluency in a brace of juvenile hurdles this summer and failed to justify support switched to a handicap latest. Tongue tie refitted.

No form in maiden hurdles in Ireland and similarly offered little both starts for new yard, pulled up on handicap debut at Market Rasen (18.6f) in September. Long way out of weights here. Had wind op.

Verdict

SCHALKE didn't go without promise in novice/maiden hurdles and shaped better than the distance beaten suggests on handicap debut at Ayr last time, an error just as he was making his challenge proving costly. Less exposed than most, he's worth a chance to confirm the promise of that run. Burnage Boy, Court Jurado and Coup de Gold head up the dangers.

  1. SCHALKE
  2. BURNAGE BOY (IRE)
  3. COURT JURADO (IRE)
