Much improved when winning handicaps at Doncaster and Yarmouth first 2 starts this term. Progress has rather stalled since, though latest third at Carlisle was creditable.

Thriving filly who made it 3 from 4 when making all at Brighton (1m), sticking on willingly. Found run of good form coming to a halt at Goodwood 2 weeks ago, unable to dominate upped in grade.

Bagged Yarmouth handicap on return/yard debut and found plenty to resume winning ways at Leicester. Shaped as if needing stiffer test at York since so return to 1m should suit.

Consistent rather than progressive form in novices/maidens, not needing to be at best when winning 7-runner maiden (8/13) at Leicester (7f, good) 46 days ago. Opening mark looks high enough.

Fairly useful 6.5f winner in France for Freddy Head. However, ran no sort of race on yard debut at Catterick last month. Blinkers back on.

Holds her form pretty well and picked up a race at Beverley in July. Others look better treated, however.

Took a step forward when winning 6-runner handicap over C&D in July, recording a good time in the process. Unable to repeat that form at Thirsk next time but could bounce back returned to this venue.

Showed fairly useful form when hitting the frame in 3 novice events. Well held on nursery bow at Sandown last time after 3 months off, however, and drops down in trip now.

Fair maiden. Best effort yet when second in 9f Musselburgh maiden, albeit no match for the easy winner. Beaten 10 lengths when third of 5 back in a handicap at Hamilton next time, though.

Fair maiden who improved when second of 14 in handicap at Newbury. Well held next 2 starts, however, and is developing a patchy record.

Improved both starts for this yard, coming from off pace to score at Carlisle before close third upped in trip at Newcastle on Monday. Pulled clear of rest that day so obvious claims off same mark.

Forecasts

Libby Ami (7/2), Turandot (5/1), Arabian Romance (5/1), New Exceed (6/1), Florence Street (7/1), Astrogem (8/1), Subtle Beauty (10/1), Zulu Girl (16/1), Crown Princess (22/1), Soller Bay (25/1), Hipsway (28/1), Genetique (100/1)

Verdict

LIBBY AMI has made an excellent start for Grant Tuer, scoring at Carlisle last month before a close third off this mark at Newcastle on Monday, so is sure to make another bold bid. Arabian Romance has won 2 of her 4 starts for this yard and the return to 1m should suit given how she shaped at York last time, while Turandot won in a good time over this C&D in July.

  1. LIBBY AMI (IRE)
  2. ARABIAN ROMANCE (IRE)
  3. TURANDOT (IRE)
