Smart veteran handicapper who proved a model of consistency in defeat last year. Left reappearance run well behind when landing a 3-runner event at Haydock last weekend, but this is much tougher.

Smart sprint handicapper when on his game and put in a good shift when fourth in a competitive 5f York handicap in May. Now tried in cheekpieces and place possibilities off the same mark here.

Acquitted himself well in Group company last year and now 2 lb lower than for his 2019 success in this race. Decent effort at Newbury in April and claims providing conditions don't become testing.

Needs things to drop right, but he's not short of ability and latest fifth in Group 3 company at Sandown (5f, good to soft) was a creditable effort. Further rain would aid his cause.

Smart performer for Simon Crisford, winner of a heavy-ground 7f listed race at Redcar in October. However, little impact in 5 starts for present connections and needs to bounce back in a major way.

Dual winner in France for Fabrice Chappet and left low-key British debut well behind when sharing the spoils in 5f Sandown handicap (good to soft) last weekend. 5 lb rise fair and merits respect.

Bounced back to his best when second at York in May and perhaps unsuited by the surface on recent AW debut at Newcastle. Still, others make more appeal.

Enjoyed a productive campaign and climbed the handicap ladder last season, winning 4 times. Near miss on return in a 3-runner AW minor event in April, but has found life tougher since.

Below par on return, but subsequently placed in strong 5f handicaps at York and Doncaster. Cheekpieces refitted and, providing conditions don't become testing, he should have a part to play.

Significantly (11/2), Mondammej (13/2), Tis Marvellous (13/2), Showalong (7/1), Boundless Power (10/1), Hurricane Ivor (11/1), Only Spoofing (14/1), Get It (14/1), Count D'Orsay (16/1), Aljady (18/1), Danzeno (18/1), Ostilio (20/1), Makanah (20/1), Mulzim (20/1), Mokaatil (22/1), Nomadic Empire (25/1), Blue De Vega (33/1), Sunday Sovereign (33/1), Nelson Gay (40/1), Zargun (66/1)

Verdict

Testing conditions would be a concern for several of these, but BOUNDLESS POWER's connections certainly won't be fazed if the forecast rain materialises. Indeed, his victories at Nottingham this season have been gained in the mud and this 4-y-o may well have more to offer. Hurricane Ivor is feared on the back of his Sandown dead-heat, while Significantly and Nomadic Empire are others to consider.

  2. HURRICANE IVOR (IRE)
  3. SIGNIFICANTLY
