Successful at Hamilton in May and went agonisingly close over this C&D on penultimate start. Below par at Carlisle (1m) last time, though, and it looks as though handicapper is now in charge.

Losing run mounting up and below par in 3 starts for new yard this season. Still, he's dangerous to discount down in grade off a mark 14 lb lower than when fifth in the 2020 Hunt Cup at Royal Ascot.

Has come good back at this trip the last twice, bagging handicaps at Yarmouth and Chelmsford in decisive fashion. Up total of 11 lb and more will be needed here, but he's respected all the same.

Confirmed 2-y-o promise when making a winning return/handicap debut at Haydock last season. It's been largely downhill since, though, and hopes pinned on recent wind op sparking a revival here.

Several good efforts for Clive Cox in 2019 and won twice in France last year. However, he's failed to beat a rival home on 2 of his 3 starts for new yard this season and now tried in a hood.

Arrives here on a roll, completing the-trick upped to 0-90 company at Chester (10.3f) a fortnight ago. Nudged up just 2 lb, but this demands a new personal best. Yard also saddles Sameem.

Failed to fire all 3 starts last season, and the story has been much the same in a handful of appearances for new connections this time round.

Ayr novice winner for Alistair Whillans at 2 yrs and improved when getting on top close home on return/debut for new yard at Redcar (1m) in April. May have more to offer now upped in trip.

Did the job well when opening his account at Newcastle (10.2f) 2 weeks ago. Up 9 lb, but he's steadily progressive and conditions here won't be an issue (runner-up on soft going at Haydock in May).

Deservedly ended a losing run when striking at Haydock (10.2f) last month. Creditable fourth over the same C&D off this mark next time, but he may find conditions here too testing.

Generally consistent type who belatedly opened his account in a Class 2 Epsom handicap last month. Followed that with a solid effort in defeat at Chester (10.3f) and should give another good account.

Shed her maiden tag in good style when bagging a heavy-ground Haydock handicap (10.4f) in May. Subsequently performed with credit off this 6 lb higher mark at Windsor and she's not without hope.

Step forward when third upped to this trip at Beverley on penultimate start. Things didn't go his way at Doncaster next time and, likely to get a strong pace to aim at here, he's one to consider.

Forecasts

Sharpcliff (11/4), A Boy Named Ivy (5/1), Solent Gateway (11/2), Carter Cowboy (13/2), War Leader (11/1), Cote d'Azur (14/1), Bollin Margaret (14/1), Rainbow Jet (14/1), Howzer Black (20/1), Baltic Baron (22/1), Sameem (25/1), Arch Moon (28/1), House Of Kings (50/1)

Verdict

Stepping up to this trip promises to suit A BOY NAMED IVY, who overcame a positional bias when making a winning debut for this yard at Redcar in April. Conditions here are likely to be slower than anything he has previously encountered, but he's gone up just 3 lb and makes plenty of appeal overall. Carter Cowboy is gradually getting the hang of things and is feared most ahead of Solent Gateway.
