Sky Sports Racing Sky 415 Handicap Hurdle

Off time: 20:15 | Winning time: 4m 46.10s

Allenby^h³⁷

Age: 6| Weight: 11-12| J: Alex Edwards⁽³⁾| T: Mrs M Rowley| OR: 100

40/1

Some promise in 4 runs for Philip Hobbs before Christmas, but was pulled up back from a break on handicap bow/debut for this yard at Southwell in April.

Form: 8/489-P

Image of Stars that are filled with the colour gold

Getaway Cory²⁴

Age: 6| Weight: 11-10| J: T Scudamore| T: K Woollacott| OR: 98

100/1

Signs of ability in maiden/novice company, but he has offered little since going down the handicap route.

Form: 57770-P

Chapati¹⁴

Age: 7| Weight: 11-9| J: Fergus Gregory⁽³⁾| T: J Coulson| OR: 97

20/1

Much improved from reduced mark when winning 2m Southwell handicap in November. Back on-song following a string of below par efforts when third at Worcester recently and he's one to consider.

Form: 1387-43

Special Brute^p¹⁷⁰

Age: 6| Weight: 11-8| J: Sean Quinlan| T: J Candlish| OR: 96

25/1

Posted just about his best effort yet in first-time cheekpieces when fifth of 14 at Sedgefield (19.8f, heavy) in December. May appreciate the better ground here and claims off a 2 lb lower mark.

Form: 558/805-

Craig Star⁴⁶³

Age: 11| Weight: 11-7| J: Abbie McCain⁽⁵⁾| T: D McCain Jnr| OR: 95| D

125/1

Losing run dates back to January 2018 and while he's certainly capable of a bold show in a race of this nature off a reduced mark, the run may be needed following 15 months off.

Form: 3F5525/

Hahadi^v¹⁷

Age: 9| Weight: 11-5| J: Sam Twiston-Davies| T: M Sheppard| OR: 93| D

14/1

Won twice over hurdles last season, including on debut for this yard at Southwell in April. Creditable fourth in 21.2f Ludlow handicap recently and he's in with an each-way shout.

Form: 1213-64

Coolnacritta⁵^{(ex 7)}

Age: 6| Weight: 11-2| J: Ross Chapman| T: N Mechie| OR: 83

3/1

No form in maiden hurdles in Ireland during 2019/20 campaign, but looked a different proposition when making a winning comeback/handicap debut for new yard at Hexham (16.2f, good). Obvious claims.

Form: 00P0/1

Sue Be It^t³⁶

Age: 10| Weight: 11-1| J: B S Hughes| T: Mrs N S Evans| OR: 89

20/1

Back-to-back hurdles winner in 2018 and returned to form when runner-up at Warwick on penultimate start. Failed to back that up next time, though, and she looks looks vulnerable.

Form: 50/602-5

Espinator⁴⁰

Age: 7| Weight: 10-12| J: K Brogan⁽⁵⁾| T: A Wintle| OR: 86| BF

7/2

Has gradually got the hang of things, runner-up at Newton Abbot in April and performed to a similar level when third of 15 over 23.3f here in a first-time tongue strap. Place possibilities.

Form: 50742-3

Sweeping Rock^p²⁰³

Age: 11| Weight: 10-9| J: J E Moore| T: J L Spearing| OR: 83

40/1

Veteran who went close over C&D last summer and thereabouts on 3 of his 4 subsequent starts. Resumes from a break with conditions in his favour, but hurdles strike rate (1-30) is hardly compelling.

Form: 725233-

Alramz²⁶

Age: 5| Weight: 10-9| J: Lucy Gardner| T: Mrs S Gardner| OR: 83

10/1

First piece of worthwhile form in this sphere when hitting the crossbar in a 13-runner handicap here (15.8f, good to soft) last month. Each-way chance off the same mark if coping with this new trip.

Form: 0P09-2

Dubheen²⁶

Age: 7| Weight: 10-8| J: Cillin Leonard⁽⁷⁾| T: Dr R D P Newland| OR: 82

11/1

Yet to build on peak Irish form, but hasn't been with this shrewd yard for long and latest fifth in 15.8f handicap here was a creditable effort. Not without hope if building on that back up in trip.

Form: 9/PPP5-5

Alfoski²⁰

Age: 6| Weight: 10-4| J: Kielan Woods| T: D Killahena & G McPherson| OR: 78

28/1

Bettered previous efforts when third of 8 at Ludlow (21.2f, good to soft) last month, but subsequent Worcester display left much to be desired.

Form: 478P-39

Shanandoa⁵⁰

Age: 10| Weight: 10-3| J: Jack Tudor⁽³⁾| T: D Brace| OR: 77

20/1

Remains winless following 11 attempts over hurdles and while she didn't do much wrong when third off this mark at Taunton (16.5f, good to firm) last time, she may again find one or two too good.

Form: 770263-

Top Of The Rocks^t⁵⁷⁴

Age: 8| Weight: 10-0| J: Ross Turner⁽⁵⁾| T: O Greenall & J Guerriero| OR: 74WS

22/1

Twice runner-up off similar marks in 2019, but he's not the most reliable and is a long-standing maiden in this sphere (0-19). Probably best watched for new yard on the back of a 19-month absence.

Form: 526894/

Jewelinthename^t⁸⁰

Age: 6| Weight: 10-0| J: Harry Reed| T: N P Mulholland| OR: 73

50/1

Made little impact in a trio of handicap hurdles last season. Entirely possible that he will benefit from this step up in trip, but others are preferred all the same.

Form: 08/0799-

Unique Company⁶¹

Age: 6| Weight: 10-0| J: Aaron Anderson⁽⁷⁾| T: M Weatherer| OR: 72

50/1

Poor on Flat/over hurdles and predictably failed to build on his Carlisle near miss when well held at Newcastle last time.

Form: 300726-

Outlaw Jack^t¹^{(ex 7)}

Age: 9| Weight: 10-4| J: Brendan Powell| T: J Farrelly| OR: 71

9/2

14/1, career best when winning 8-runner handicap hurdle at Fontwell (21.8f, good to firm) on Wednesday. Penalised but has to be respected on the back of that.

Form: 95/60-01

Forecasts

Coolnacritta (3/1), Espinator (7/2), Outlaw Jack (9/2), Alramz (10/1), Dubheen (11/1), Hahadi (14/1), Shanandoa (20/1), Sue Be It (20/1), Chapati (20/1), Sweet Flora (20/1), Top Of The Rocks (22/1), Special Brute (25/1), Kilcaragh Boy (25/1), Alfoski (28/1), Sweeping Rock (40/1), Allenby (40/1), Jewelinthename (50/1), Unique Company (50/1), Getaway Cory (100/1), Craig Star (125/1)

A chance is taken on SPECIAL BRUTE, who resumes from a break with his yard in good form and his latest effort at Sedgefield represented a step forward. He certainly wasn't doing his best work at the finish on that occasion, but is well worth another try at this trip now back on better ground. Coolnacritta is feared under a penalty following his recent Hexham success and Chapati also has claims.
