Looked as good as ever when winning 14-runner Ripon handicap on return in April. Made the frame there both starts since and should be on the premises again.

Bounced back to form with a career-best win at Redcar last week, the combination of first-time headgear and having a claimer back on seemingly the catalysts. Player under a penalty.

Veteran who shaped quite well when fourth on reappearance at Newmarket and duly built on that to win at Doncaster 7 weeks ago. This looks much more competitive, however.

Lightly-raced winner. Couple of good runs in defeat on the AW this season but still has to prove she's as effective on turf.

Forecasts

Ventura Express (5/6), Fox Hill (6/1), Mark's Choice (13/2), Dark Shot (8/1), Tenaya Canyon (9/1), Secretinthepark (22/1), Nibras Again (33/1)

Verdict

VENTURA EXPRESS proved comfortably better than ever when taking apart a sprint handicap that looked more competitive than the market suggested at Pontefract on Monday and should prove hard to beat under a penalty if turning up in similar form. Fellow penalised-winner Fox Hill responded well to headgear at Redcar last week and rates the main threat.

  1. VENTURA EXPRESS
  2. FOX HILL
  3. MARK'S CHOICE (IRE)
