Fair handicapper on the Flat at best in 2019 but hardly beat a rival in 3 starts last year. Probably best to look elsewhere on hurdling debut after 7 months off the track.

Irish pointer winner but ran to just a poor level in a bumper at Doncaster. Made little impact on hurdling debut at Haydock 18 days ago and the likelihood is he will need more time.

Well held sole outing in bumpers and showed nothing in pair of novice hurdles in recent weeks. Plenty more needed to feature.

€6,000 Doyen gelding. Big price but showed ability starting out at this track in January but well held on both starts since, including on hurdles bow 27 days ago.

Sent off at 5/2 but looked very green and never posed a threat when well beaten third of 6 in a Fakenham bumper (2m) in November. Failed to progress from debut last time and may need more time.

€3,500 3-y-o, Yeats gelding. Half-brother to a winner in Denmark. Dam, 11f winner in Italy, half-sister to smart hurdler (stayed 3m) Simenon. Last of 4 finishers sole start in Irish points (Nov 29).

Malinas gelding who could hardly have shown any less when pulled up in novice hurdle at Stratford (16.3f, soft) on NH debut in August. Readily passed over.

Well held on only start in bumpers and failed to beat a rival on hurdling debut. Hard to see him featuring.

Some promise in bumpers but ran to just a modest level of form when second in a small-field maiden hurdle at Plumpton on debut in this sphere 16 months ago.

Maiden pointer who offered little when seventh of 11 in novice hurdle at Uttoxeter (19.9f, soft, 300/1) on NH debut 22 days ago. Readily passed over.

Lightly-raced winner in points who looked set to make a winning start over hurdles before crumpling on landing at the last in novice at Hereford (19.7f, heavy) last month. Can make amends here.

Modest performer on the Flat and failed to build on the small glimmer of promise of previous run when well beaten at Kempton last month. Readily passed over on hurdles bow.

Fairly useful on Flat (stays 1¾m) for Amanda Perrett but well held on Doncaster hurdle debut in December. Saw things out much better on second start after a wind op last time and could feature here.

Fairly useful on the Flat in Ireland for Andrew Oliver. Hurdles debut was low-key, and he continued to disappoint for this yard when well held at Doncaster last month. Needs to show more.

Timeform
Fair Flat winner (stays 1¼m) for Harry Dunlop who showed an aptitude for this new discipline when not beaten far into fifth at Kempton 22 days ago, not persevered with once held. Likely to improve.

Verdict

A case of quantity over quality here, with RAFFLE TICKET selected to gain some much-deserved compensation having had the race at his mercy before crumpling on landing at the last at Hereford last month. Provided that doesn't leave a mark, he may prove tough to beat. Voice of Calm showed aptitude when fifth on his hurdling debut at Kempton so heads the possible dangers, ahead of Zuba.
