Season Finale Fillies' Handicap
Class 5 | 1m 1f 209y | Good (good to firm in places) | 14 Runners | Turf
Off time: 17:31 | Winning time: 2m 10.3s
Promise on debut at Meydan in February but unable to better that form in 2 novice events at Windsor last month. Opening mark looks fair and she should be bang there.
Plenty of promise when runner-up at Kempton on debut but proved to be a disappointment when sent off favourite at Chelmsford a month later. Makes handicap debut.
Much improved from debut when fourth of 10 in minor event at Newbury (10f, good to soft, 66/1) last month but proved to be a disappointment a fortnight later at Ripon. Makes handicap debut.
Lightly-raced maiden who finished a good fourth handicap debut at Yarmouth but was below form next time when well-beaten at Chelmsford. Needs more to feature.
Promising sort who got back on track when runner-up on polytrack debut at Chelmsford last time. Opening mark looks fair and she can make an impact here.
Lightly-raced maiden who ran respectably when seventh at Kempton on first outing since leaving Jane Chapple-Hyam, giving best only late in the day. One to note with blinkers on for the first time.
Returned from 9 months off to land a couple of handicaps at Bath for her new yard. Couple of creditable efforts in fourth recently and she's not ruled out back at a more suitable trip.
Returned from 11 months off with a pair of creditable efforts at Newmarket, upped 2f in trip last time. Not ruled out having only had 4 runs but may find a few too good here.
Best run when third of 10 at Chepstow (1m, good to firm) in early-August and ran just respectably in third on handicap bow back at 1¼m last time. Should have more to offer for leading yard.
Sent off at huge prices on both starts so far but showed a bit more than on debut upped in trip at Newmarket 18 days ago. Makes handicap debut.
Some promise in a couple of starts last year and caught eye given a considerate reappearance after 7 months off at Yarmouth in June. Makes handicap debut upped in trip and needs monitoring.
Thrice-raced maiden who showed more than previously when fifth at Chepstow 32 days ago. Makes handicap debut but needs to improve to feature.
Lightly-raced maiden who can have her last run overlooked at Kempton, having a hopeless task from her position. Upped in trip but needs to improve to trouble the principals.
€105,000 foal, 150,000 gns yearling, Siyouni filly who seemed a bit more clued up than on debut last time but failed to translate into an improved showing. Still early days and she's in good hands.
Rose Grey (4/1), Lovers' Gait (5/1), Kimberley (5/1), Kew Palace (6/1), Spring Glow (8/1), Gonna Dancealot (12/1), Festive Love (12/1), Surprise Encounter (12/1), Katniss Everdeen (14/1), Kaleidoscopic (18/1), End Result (22/1), Ruby Red Empress (33/1), Sea Mood (66/1), Hannalite (100/1)
A competitive finale with many making their handicap debuts. ROSE GREY has hit the frame in each of her 3 starts so far and she can make a winning start to life in handicaps having shown fairly useful form on debut in Meydan earlier this year. Kew Palace should have more to offer for William Haggas so gets the vote to chase the selection home, ahead of Lovers' Gait.
- ROSE GREY (USA)
