Improved to land a 1m handicap at Newcastle on his return in January, but a rise in the weights grounded ambitions since; poor in two starts since lockdown and others preferred.

Off the mark at fourth attempt/h'cap bow when landing 1m Windsor contest (good to soft; 16-1) last month; 7lb higher now but scope for better is there to see.

Hardly looked progressive in six-race career in Ireland with Sheila Lavery; lower mark helps on first start for new handler but plenty improvement to find.

Twice second in 7f Lingfield maidens early in the year; beaten 10L on handicap bow over C&D last month after a layoff and others are preferred.

Won a Lingfield maiden over a mile on the Polytrack in June on debut; perhaps didn't get home in 1m2f Chelmsford novice since. An opening mark of 69 looks demanding on that evidence.

A half-brother to 7f winner Hyde Park and is a relative of a Grade 2 winner (on the AW) in France; showed promise over C&D in June (fourth) but not gone on in two turf starts since. Can improve back on the AW on second h'cap start.

Second in a Southwell maiden over 7f in March on second start; good efforts on turf at Newmarket and Ayr post-lockdown, though less so most recently at Haydock. Visored for first start on this surface.

Has now begun to get the hang of things recently and notched another career-best when winning 7f Chepstow handicap last month. Up 4lb but looks seriously progressive now if transferring improvement to the all-weather.

Improving sort; landed C&D handicap last month and a 3lb rise in the weights isn't excessive. Jockey in excellent form and on the shortlist.

Ran well on return and although a beaten favourite latest he was third beaten just 1L behind Mabre over C&D. Same mark now and so entitled to give that rival a real challenge again.

Returned from 252 days off to win at Wolverhampton in maiden company in June; well held both starts since however and must improve on that form from unchanged mark.

Cable Bay filly was a winner in a Wolverhampton seller over 7f in February; went close there on reappearance over extended-mile in June but not as good since at Chelmsford. She must improve to land this.

Gleneagles filly; ran well here in a maiden in February over 7f and promising reappearance when third in maiden h'cap at Yarmouth (7f, good to firm; 28-1). Longer trip to suit and may be more to come.

Verdict

NEWTON JACK was better than ever when winning at Chepstow 22 days ago and a 4lb rise might not be enough to stop him following up. Fellow last-time-out winner Mabre also looks sure to improve and may maintain sway over Glen Esk from their recent C&D clash. Windsor winner Mykonos St John could be the chief threat to the selection while improvement could come from the likes of Conscious or Flying West.
