Going the right way and failed by just a length in soft ground when fourth at Chepstow 6f last month. Should again be in the mix but wouldn't surprise if he finds one or two too good yet again.
Equiano gelding who hasn't looked any great shakes in two starts so far here over 1m finishing well beaten on each occasion. Drops back 2f but it's very hard to get excited about his prospects.
100,000gns Kyllachy colt out of unraced dam from family of talented Twilight Blues. Fair fourth on debut at Kempton last month and has undergone wind surgery since then. Could be a danger if all well with his breathing now.
Royal Applause gelding, half-brother to four winners at between 5f-7f. Not disgraced on debut at Lingfield three weeks ago when ran better than finishing position suggests, keeping on inside final furlong after a slow start.
Stable companion of Expedient and looks second-string on form to date. Last of 9 on debut in 2018 and not seen again until finishing well beaten over 7f at Salisbury last month. Handicaps may prove more suitable in due course.
Well bred Australia filly, half-sister to 7f Group 3 winner Dancing Star. Has taken time to find her form but went close last time when failing by just half a length in Yarmouth 7f novice stakes. Tired late that day so drop back looks right move.
16,000gns Showcasing filly who is half-sister to nine individual winners. Yard not known for debut scorers so would be a surprise if she lands the spoils and could be one for a little later in the campaign.
Lethal Force filly who has finished last of 7 in both her starts so far and will have to make giant strides to prove comeptitive here. Not one with any obvious claims.
Well bred Dark Angel filly from yard in good form. Not beaten far either start so far over 7f although yet to reach a place. Drop back to 6f could make a positive difference and every chance she will be thereabouts.
Forecasts
Quickstep Lady (4/11), Brunel's Boy (4/1), Expedient (13/2), Winter Halo (13/2), Show 'em Joy (28/1), Holding My Breath (66/1), Frankie Jaz (125/1), Charles Le Brun (150/1), Spearminx (150/1)
EXPEDIENT was a pleasing fourth on debut at Kempton last month and having undergone wind surgery since it would come as no surprise if he takes another step forward and lands the spoils here. Winter Halo may prove the biggest danger dropping back a furlong having struggled to get home over further, while Brunel's Boy wasn't beaten far at all last time on soft ground and again should be in the mix. Quickstep Lady is going the right way too and is another who will be suited by returning to the 6f.
- Expedient
- Winter Halo
- Quickstep Lady
