Quite an impressive overall strike-rate on turf (4-17). While he is quite a consistent sort, he is still 9lb above the mark he scored off over C&D last month. Won off higher marks in the past but not for a long time.

Doesn't tend to win very often and has never scored in 13 attempts on turf. Did hint at a return to form when third at Limerick (6f; good) in June. Now only 1lb higher so very dangerous to discount.

Seven-race maiden but she has finished thereabouts in defeat on each of her four starts since entering handicaps this year. Yard have had two winners from just six runners over the last two weeks so she should be firmly involved again.

0-7 on grass. Only beat the one rival home when she never got involved on seasonal reappearance over the minimum trip at the Curragh (5f; good to firm) when last seen in June. Hard to make a case for on that evidence.

All eight career wins have came on AW. 0-20 on the turf and while she did string together two solid efforts in defeat recently, she failed to back those efforts up when the ground may have been to blame at the Galway Festival (7f; soft).

Trio of duck eggs beside her name since entering handicaps. Failed to beat a single rival since switched to turf on return from four-month break the last twice (tailed-off last time). Best watched.

Surprise she hasn't been able to kick on from what was a highly promising first start in handicap sphere when second at Sligo last year. 7lb below that mark now but subsequent efforts in defeat leave a lot to be desired.

0-10 & hasn't progressed since offering slight encouragement when making handicap debut last year. Only finished in midfield when running over C&D a month ago & others make much more appeal in this competitive heat.

Benefitted for slightly reduced mark the last twice, recapturing his form despite being beaten. Step back up to 6f looks the right move after he was a staying-on third over 5f at this track just 29 days ago.

Shown glimmers of promise but only on two occasions throughout eight-race career. Still searching for that elusive first win but she would not be without a chance if the ground came up soft. Weather watch advised with this one.

Winless in 14 starts & now looks to be regressing judged on her latest run at the Curragh (1m4f; yielding) when she got worked up in the stalls before being tailed off. Return to this trip should suit better but others have more going for them.

Comes into this off the back of what was a career-best when she finished second at Cork (6f; good) when dropped back to 6f. Raised 3lb but it looks a positive that she stays at this trip so holds a big chance.

11lb below his last winning mark but hasn't won since June 2018. Mostly in poor form since then & no signs of that changing anytime soon judged on two most recent starts since returning from short-break.

15-race maiden has never ran over 6f before. Despite only finishing in midfield the last twice, both of those efforts have been an improvement on her first two starts of the season when she was struggling for form. Each-way chance at best.

One of the more lightly raced sorts and she now drops back markedly in trip after showing no obvious improvement on handicap debut at Navan (1m2f; yielding) on seasonal debut. More encouragement needs to be shown before faith is placed into her.

Extremely difficult to make a case for given woeful run of form in recent times. Only beat one home in a 21-runner affair at the Curragh (7f; soft) when last seen in October. Masses to prove on seasonal return.

Change of scenery yet to spark any change in fortunes for him. Campaigned over a variety of trips from 5f-7f since joining this yard. Questions to answer after most recent effort and overall record of 0-11 doesn't inspire confidence.

Minor step forward taken last time out when sixth in competitive big field handicap at Leopardstown (7f; good). That was only her first start on turf so off a 2lb lower mark she could be open to further improvement back at 6f.

Verdict

Another extremely competitive affair with a few of these hard to rule out completely including Jo Binney who would have claims if the rain came, while Abby's Magic, Maggie Thunder, C&D winner Eleuthera & That's Not Me all towards the head of the shortlist too. It would be dangerous to rule out Pillar who has returned to form recently including when third over 5f at this track 12 days ago off a falling mark. However, a chance is taken on one of the more lightly raced contenders in the field in the shape of LADY ALCAZAR. The selection has shown enough ability in a handful of starts since switched to handicaps to suggest her turn isn't far away.
  1. Lady Alcazar
  2. Pillar
  3. Jo Binney
