Newcomer, cheekpieces in for debut (refused to enter stalls on intended debut). 62,000gns yearling, third foal, closely related to winner up to 6f Aloysius Lilius (2-y-o 5f winner), dam 5f winner, yard 0-8 with 2yo debutants last five years.
Fourth to the useful 2yo Muker on his debut at York (33-1) over 5f, should find this outing an aid to his progress. Gelded prior to his initial run he showed good speed being bred for sprinting he sure to enjoy this sharp 5f, more to offer.
Gelded since his last run, finished runner-up on both occasions running to a similar level as on his debut at Doncaster last time (switched from AW). Not yet the finished article his form last time out has been franked multiple times, strong claims.
Yard 0-20 with 2yo newcomers this year (already withdrawn twice on intended first starts). Price rose €5,000 from foal to yearling (€27,000), half-brother to three winners, including 7f 2yo winner Cheat, need to be smart to make a winning debut.
66-1 and very green on his debut at Ripon (6f, good), bred more for stamina than speed, well beaten last time. Ought to come on for that run but given his pedigree surprising to see him stepping back in trip.
Stable have a modest record with newcomers (past five years; 6-74), 25,000gns yearling, second foal, dam raced twice, out of a useful 2yo 5f winner Loch Jipp. Faces some a couple of useful sorts on debut.
Yard have had one juvenile debutant winner past five years (1-77). Half-brother to three winners including useful sprinter (also as a 2yo) Bowson Fred (trained by this yard), given yard's record with newcomers best watched for now.
Yard known for their sprinters but not of the 2yo variety (0-26, past five years with debutants). Half-sister to several winners including useful 2yo 6f winner Moonlit Garden, dam 6f winner (including at 2yrs) who stayed 1m2f.
€87,000 yearling, second foal, half-sister to 2yo 5f winner Sunmoonstar. Dam twice-raced half-sister to very smart 5f (Prix de l'Abbaye de Longchamp)/6f winner Gilt Edge Girl, stable 0-63 with 2yo newcomers past five years.
One of two from this yard (only one to have run), showed virtually noting on debut at Thirsk (6f, good) beating just one home behind the subsequently Group 3 placed Hala Hala Hala, would need to step forward massively to take a hand.
Only juvenile runner from this yard so far (not known for their 2yo's), showed nothing but inexperience when last of four at York on debut over 5f. Beaten 11L in the end she would need a fair amount of progress to figure.
Newcomer, fifth foal, half-sister to 1m2f-1m4f winner Tralee Hill and 6f winner Riverside Walk, dam 11.4f winner. 2-32 with 2yo newcomers past five years, stable also run the once-raced Luck Ava.
One of only two in the field who have had a couple of starts, strong in the betting last time at Catterick (6f, good/firm) but still looking in need of the experience. Not given an especially hard time, could well be nurseries further down the line.
Yard have got going with their debutant 2yo's of late (four of last 17 have won). £75,000 Breeze-Up purchase recently first foal; dam placed at 7f sister to 7f/1m winner Juthoor, expectations best gauged by market strength, looks best of newcomers.
Forecasts
Digital (6/4), Blind Beggar (9/4), Umm Kulthum (10/3), Coley's Koko (8/1), Pixie K (16/1), Ballintoy Harbour (33/1), Penombre (40/1), Bedford Flyer (50/1), Fossos (50/1), Max Oclock (80/1), So Grateful (100/1), King Viktor (150/1), Mythical Waters (200/1), Lucky Ava (250/1)
Two of the sextet that have run set a decent standard with the form shown by DIGITAL on both of his starts (runner-up twice) looking particularly strong. His debut form has been franked whilst the Doncaster effort last time out looks even better in form terms with the winner Ubettabelieveit going on to win the Listed National Stakes. Blind Beggar, fourth to the useful Muker (Windsor Castle, third) on debut also has the credentials to win a race such as this and it won’t be a surprise to see him step forward considerably from his debut and give the selection a tough contest. Of the newcomers the Richard Fahey trained Umm Kulthum looks the best with Penombre worth a market check.
