C&D winner who is yet to fire in three starts this term & losing run is beginning to mount up. Tough task conceding weight all-round to some less exposed sorts who are open to improvement in this sphere.
Didn't look like winning when midfield over slightly shorter at this track, but showed more positive signs after finishing last on his penultimate start. 3lb below the mark he won off over C&D this time last year. Needs to raise game significantly.
Drops into a class four for the first time after finishing last on each start in defeat this season, most recently when tailed-off at York (1m; good) on Sunday. Turned out quickly again, but needs mark to fall a few lbs until he can be considered.
Ended last season on a sour note when posting below-par effort at Newcastle (1m; standard) in October. Now returns from 289-day break and this dual C&D scorer has to bounce back. Unappealing record when fresh so opposed for now.
Back at a more manageable level after finding an ultra-competitive handicap at York (1m; good to soft) too much earlier this month. On a favourable mark now, and in the main she has been running respectably lately.
In decent form when last seen at this track, but has regressed since then. Well-beaten when last of 12 at Newcastle (1m; standard) in March & not seen since so has enough to prove on return from four months off.
Slight step back in the right direction to finish fourth in this grade at York (1m2f; good to soft) when 40-1. That was an improvement on his seasonal reappearance effort when down the field. Not won since May 2018, and not getting much younger.
7lb rise for latest victory at Hamilton (1m; soft) which took his record in handicaps/in 2020 to 2-2. The first of those wins came over C&D and he is still lightly raced so hat-trick seems a likely occurance.
Backwards step at Thirsk (1m; good to soft) when dropped in trip after two solid efforts before that. Back down to his last winning mark now though, so if able to bounce back he would have definite claims.
Competitive in all four career starts, including the last twice since entering handicap sphere. Drop back in trip looks the right move after he failed to stay 1m2f at Windsor. Should be involved once again but does need to progress.
Forecasts
Le Chiffre (7/4), Oasis Prince (10/3), Bottom Bay (4/1), Kylie Rules (17/2), King's Pavilion (12/1), Baraweez (12/1), Defence Treaty (20/1), Helovaplan (20/1), Brother McGonagall (40/1), Mutaabeq (150/1)
The David O'Meara yard have been going along nicely over the past 14 days, and their LE CHIFFRE is improving at a rapid rate of knots. He followed up his recent C&D success with another cosy victory at Hamilton. He can deal with the subsequent 7lb rise by the handicapper, and record a hat-trick to maintain his unbeaten record this year. His biggest danger is likely to be his fellow three-year-old rival Bottom Bay, though he didn't show a great deal of progress last time so the drop back to 1m must work in his favour. The remainder of this race is filled with exposed sorts, but Kylie Rules takes a drop in class and didn't run badly on her first two starts this season.
