Back in calmer waters now after finding the demands of the Super Sprint at Newbury (5f; good) all too much. Looked a nice prospect when breaking shedding maiden tag on penultimate start, and useful apprentice takes 5lb off.

Built upon solid debut run over C&D to get off the mark at Catterick (5f; good to soft) at the start of the month. Kept on well for pressure and won going away in the end. Should be more to come & a bold bid expected despite the penalty.

Dandy Man colt. £15,500 two-year-old. Half-brother to 1m winner in Hong Kong. Dam won over 7f on the AW and 1m on turf. Stable enjoying a thoroughly decent time of things over the last couple of weeks (6-28; 21%). Betting vibes significant.
Midfield on debut at Redcar (6f; good) when seventh. Form of that race franked by the fourth since, but he needs to show considerable improvement in what looks a slightly stronger affair on paper. Likely to be one of the outsiders.

Made a tardy start but learnt his job late on when running on to grab fourth on debut at Leicester (6f; good to firm). Likely to be a much more straightforward proposition now, and he has to enter calculations.
Took a backwards step from somewhat promising debut effort when only eighth at Ripon (6f; good) behind One For The Ladies (6th) recently. Looked in trouble a fair way from home and now has something to prove.
Bang there with the main bunch until just running out of steam in the closing stages at Ripon (6f; good) on debut. Drop to 5f should suit much better on that sole piece of evidence. Not completely written off.

Offered promise on debut over C&D last week when making ground up from the back of the field to finish fourth. Given an educational ride, so she must be strongly considered with considerable improvement expected with that experience under her belt.

One of two runners in this race for the stable. Failed to make any impression on debut at Chelmsford (5f; standard) when she blew her chance getting worked up in the stalls. Only a watching brief can be advised.

Unfancied (80-1) and was subsequently never involved on debut when 12th of 14 at Thirsk (6f; good). Yard out of form and she looks one to oppose for now until entering handicaps. Drops down to the minimum trip.

Went close to making a winning debut at Ripon (5f; good) when runner-up to another newcomer. Leading player on that form and her trainer has been enjoying a decent strike-rate over the past 14 days (2-8; 25%).

Forecasts

Crown Princess (85/40), Roydmoor (5/2), Silent Queen (10/3), Day Job (7/1), Disco Beats (20/1), Dapper Bob (20/1), More Than Lucky (25/1), Tom's Reign Beau (28/1), One For The Ladies (33/1), Gems Jewel (50/1), Misty Awana (200/1)

Verdict

Connections of Disco Beats evidently feel he will cope with the quick turnaround after running in a hot two-year-old race at Newbury only last weekend. He will appreciate the ease in class but this is a tough ask off top-weight. The newcomer Dapper Bob is respected, while Roydmoor and Silent Queen both suggested they would be future winners when posting eye-catching efforts on debut. So too did DAY JOB who made up ground from the rear under hands and heels over this C&D last week. She can do better with that experience under her belt receiving weight from her main rivals. Crown Princess may prove the biggest danger after winning stylishly last time out.
  1. Day Job
  2. Crown Princess
  3. Silent Queen
