Didn't fare too badly on his sole previous attempt beyond 1m2f, when finishing fifth of 11 to Sharp Suited in a Newcastle novice (1m4½f) last December; raced over zealously when flopping on soft ground (1m2f) latest.

Runner-up in a Haydock maiden (1m2f, good) - form received a timely boost with Roberto Escobarr winning at York on Sunday; perfectly respectable third on Windsor (1m3½f) handicap debut; sits 2lb higher in newly applied headgear; key player.

Has shown a similar level of fair form on all three starts, without necessarily appearing to be a ready made winner in waiting; finished last of three to Win O'Clock on Leicester (1m2f, good to soft) handicap debut; stablemate of Provocation.

In finishing a keeping on third (beaten 2L) to Jellystone, took a slight step forward for the introduction of a hood (retained) on handicap debut at Kempton (1m4f); half-brother Silver Character was a winner over this trip; place claims.

New Approach colt; has eased 3lb in the weights since introduced to handicapping; comfortably held (fourth) at Leicester (1m4f, good to soft) a fortnight ago; major improvement undoubtedly required.

Frankel colt (375,000gns yearling); commonly slowly away, and safe to say he's proved disappointing thus far - second run came in a fair Newmarket novice (1m); steps up in trip for handicap debut, and that's expected to aid his cause.

Lightly-raced filly; first foal from the 1m2f Listed winner Eastern Belle; kept on (without ever threatening the principals) to finish fifth to Lady Sansa in a 1m2f Chelmsford novice; tackles a new trip for turf/handicap debut.

Overcame a slow break to make a relatively promising debut (fourth to stablemate Galsworthy) at Kempton (1m4f), but bombed out at short odds next time, finishing two places behind Dream With Me; embarks on a retrieval mission wearing blinkers.

Steady away since introduced to handicapping, but equally can't be labelled as having shown improvement for tackling a longer trip (1m2f); sports first-time cheekpieces having eased slightly in the weights; dam was a winner over 1m4f.

Can only be viewed as regressive on the basis of what he has shown since the return from lockdown; weakened tamely (11th of 12) at Redcar (1m2f) last month; grave stamina doubts; stablemate Dream With Me has more compelling claims.

Frankel gelding (75,000gns yearling); hot on the heels (fourth) of My Vision in a Wolverhampton novice (1m½f) last October, but their careers have taken very different routes since; mustered a mid-division finish on Lingfield (1m2f) handicap debut.

Left the care of Roger Charlton for 16,500gns in February 2020; low-key for current trainer John Ryan, easing 4lb in the weights as a result; it's difficult to pinpoint too many positives; cheekpieces go on and safer to look elsewhere.

Verdict

Plenty of the leading stables are represented in the Yarmouth opener, so the chances are that this probably isn't too bad a race by maiden handicap standards. Swift Verdict made a relatively promising start to his racing career (beaten by stablemate Galsworthy) before bombing out at short odds at Doncaster. He embarks on a retrieval mission for Gosden and Havlin in newly-fitted blinkers. Boss Power cost 375,000gns as a yearling, yet has proved bitterly disappointing thus far, with hopes pinned on the switch to handicapping unlocking needed improvement. However, after taking everything into account, the safest option is Saeed Bin Suroor's cheek-pieced runner MY VISION.
  1. My Vision
  2. Swift Verdict
  3. Caledonian Crusade
