Winner over 1m3f here last year, and looked better than ever when neck second of 10 to Palavecino over C&D on his return. Can go close if building at all on that.
Once a Group 3 winner for John Gosden, but sold cheaply from that yard, and form has been in sharp decline for current connections.
Back to form on first start since leaving Marco Botti when 1¼L second of 12 to Tribal Craft over C&D last time. Creeping up the weights in defeat, but this is his level, and not without claims.
Progressed very well last season winning four times (three on AW). Too keen to last home on his return at Newbury, and he's not looked a stayer when tried at this trip in the past.
Well held in three starts since winning over 1¾m at Chelmsford in September. Excuses last time, though, and is now just 1lb above that winning mark. Not dismissed out of hand, and has run well under this inexperienced apprentice before.
Had a really busy winter but thrived on it, winning three times over this trip at Lingfield. Well held on his return from absence at Chelmsford last month, however, and others have more pressing claims.
Dual course winner either side of the New Year over 1m3f. Below form when 16½L seventh of 10 to Palavecino over C&D last time, and while that may have been needed, he must step up markedly now tried in a visor.
Better effort this season when fifth of 12 to Tribal Craft over C&D last time, and seems to be gradually working her way back to a peak. Still looks high in the weights on balance, though.
Highly tried as a juvenile, and lightly raced since, showing improvement when beating Renardeau over this trip at Lingfield on handicap bow in March. Did well to come off a slow pace there, and looks to have more in the tank. Shortlisted.
In good form early in the year, winning twice over this trip at Lingfield. Second to Omnivega there when last seen, and while he had the run of things there, he has a 5lb pull with that rival.
Highly tried since winning a Southwell maiden last spring, and was again well beaten on his return to action in the Northumberland Plate last month. This is easier, however, and he should be fitter for that comeback effort.
Beaten narrowly off current mark over 1m3f here on penultimate start, but beaten 18¾L when third of 9 to You're Hired at Newmarket last month, and needs to do much better here.
Beat subsequent Group 3 winner Volkan Star on debut, and overfaced in 2000 Guineas on his return. Shaped well when sixth of 14 to Highland Chief in Golden Gates Handicap at Royal Ascot last time, and clearly capable of winning from this mark.
Improved markedly on juvenile efforts when winning a 1m3f maiden here last time by 2¾L from Maiden Castle. Stayed on well for that win, and longer trip will suit now handicapping.
Forecasts
Emirates Knight (3/1), Quickthorn (7/2), Omnivega (4/1), Cepheus (9/2), Oh It's Saucepot (10/1), Kyllachy Gala (20/1), Badenscoth (25/1), City Tour (25/1), Allegiant (33/1), The Pinto Kid (40/1), Renardeau (50/1), Hiroshima (50/1), Battle Of Marathon (100/1), Sevenna Star (150/1)
Volkan Star winning the Group 3 Prix du Lys on Tuesday was a reminder of the strength of the debut win of CEPHEUS, and Brian Meehan's colt still looked green when a fine sixth at Royal Ascot last time. Dropped 1lb for that, he can belatedly prove himself well treated. Emirates Knight ran a cracker to chase home Palavecino over track and trip recently, and is a danger, along with Lingfield winner Omnivega.
- Cepheus
- Emirates Knight
