Lightly-raced since being gelded in November 2018 and finished a well beaten 11th in a 5f handicap at Haydock (good) on seasonal debut last month. Races off a mark 1lb lower than when winning over this trip at Chester (soft) as a two-year-old.
Victorious over this trip on the AW at Kempton in April last year and has registered some decent efforts in defeat since. Beaten 4¼L when meeting trouble in running at Newcastle last time out and is worth a check in the market in this contest.
Struggled in both starts this campaign including when 16L last of ten over this distance on the AW at Wolverhampton last week. Others hold more obvious claims on this occasion.
Making his seasonal debut when finishing sixth over this trip at Kempton at the start of last month. Has won off a 1lb higher mark in the past and market support would be notable on his return to turf.
Fair eighth on debut for this yard at Beverley (5f, good) just under a month ago and improved on that when beaten 3L into fourth at Doncaster (5f, good-to-firm) last time out. One to note in this event.
Has shown decent form on both starts this campaign most recently when 2½L fifth over this distance at Newmarket (good-to-firm) just under a fortnight ago. Notable runner having won off a 1lb higher mark in the past.
Placed on three of his four starts since winning over this C&D on good ground in August last year. Making his seasonal debut here and is worth a check in the market racing off a mark 4lb higher than when winning that day.
Forecasts
Lihou (3/1), Cowboy Soldier (4/1), Dave Dexter (9/2), James Watt (9/2), Chitra (11/2), The Daley Express (8/1), Secret Potion (18/1)
COWBOY SOLDIER caught the eye when meeting trouble in running on the AW last time out and dropping markedly in grade he can register a success in this small field sprint handicap. The selection can see off top weight Dave Dexter who was a winner off a higher mark at two and is likely to have improved for last months seasonal reappearance while third place can go to Chitra, another who has won off a higher mark in the past.
- Cowboy Soldier
- Dave Dexter
- Chitra
