Dual 7f Epsom winner at two before coming up short in French Listed race. Most pleasing return when a close second over this trip at Kempton and off just 1lb higher with fitness boosted she looks sure to go close.

Made a nice impression on debut at Kempton but sweated up and ran far too freely when a well-beaten second as odds-on fav at Newmarket. Champion trainer now fits the hood and bounce back distinctly possible.

Age: 3|  Weight: 9-2| J: Jane Elliott| T: Tom Dascombe| OR:  85| D
40/1
Dual Chester winner (6f, soft; 7f, good) last season. Went close twice in handicaps off 1lb and 2lb higher marks than here but she was well beaten on return at Haydock leaving a few question marks here.

Dual two-year-old scorer placed in first three handicaps (all on AW) before finishing midfield in Royal Ascot handicap latest. This a level easier but still vulnerable to less exposed sorts.

First-time hood did the trick as she got off the mark at Haydock latest in her first three-year-old start at 33/1. Handicapper not been unkind so remains one to consider here.

Well-bred filly looked smart when winning on debut but three starts since leave as many questions as answers. Longer trip and new headgear offer some hope.

Dual AW winner and placed in last three handicaps since striking in novice auction company at Wolverhampton last October. Has few secrets from the handicapper but ought to again go well.

Age: 3|  Weight: 8-12| J: S M Levey| T: R Hannon| OR:  81

Maiden filly finished second in three of her five starts and collared late on over 7f at Newmarket last time in handicap company. Upped 4lb for that improved run but not ruled out.

Yes Always27
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-11| J: Barry McHugh| T: K R Burke| OR:  80
5/1
6f Newcastle AW winner tilting at windmills when 13th of 15 in 1000 Guineas last time out but that at least shows she's held in high regard and therefore is of interest in the market here although yard's form a concern.

Forecasts

Cressida (3/1), Odyssey Girl (7/2), Yes Always (5/1), Al Dawodiya (6/1), Breath Of Joy (8/1), Afraid Of Nothing (17/2), Lethal Talent (12/1), Dear Power (20/1), Know No Limits (40/1)

Verdict

Champion trainer John Gosden has few peers when it comes to training fillies so he is expected to have gotten to the bottom of the issues which denied CRESSIDA from showing her true worth on return at Newmarket. Her impressive debut success last season makes her worth chancing for the master trainer. Probably the biggest danger is Afraid Of Nothing who was a smart two-year-old last season and she ran well on return at Kempton. Haydock winner Breath Of Joy is also one worthy of consideration now.
  1. Cressida
  2. Afraid Of Nothing
  3. Breath Of Joy
