Elite Racing Club 28th Year Handicap

Class 5  |   1m 4f  |   12 Runners  |   Turf

Off time: -  |   Winning time: -

Age: 6|  Weight: 9-7  |  J: M Harley |  T: A King|  OR: 70|  CD

Sole Flat win was gained on only previous visit here and that was on soft ground, so while any rain that may fall wouldn't be a concern, the fact she has been off the track for 14 months could be.

Age: 4|  Weight: 9-7  |  J: Joshua Bryan |  T: A M Balding|  OR: 70

Entered handicaps on too high a mark after landing an AW maiden win in April last year and has now dropped down to a more realistic level so no surprise to see him do better back off a break.

Age: 8|  Weight: 9-6  |  J: Charlie Price |  T: B J Llewellyn|  OR: 69|  CD

Did win on the Flat here in 2015 but very lightly raced in this sphere these days and not easy to predict how he will fare though he landed a minor race over hurdles at Taunton last autumn.

Age: 5|  Weight: 9-5  |  J: Angus Villiers |  T: B R Millman|  OR: 68|  D

Generally consistent in 2019 but having shaped well enough on comeback run, was then disappointing at Sandown since. Possible that was just an off day and could be the type to bounce back so might be worth forgiving that effort.

Age: 6|  Weight: 9-5  |  J: B Doyle |  T: A W Carroll|  OR: 68

90 rated handicapper in the past and finally took advantage of his sliding mark when landing a bit of a gamble over at Newmarket. That was on soft but versatile ground wise and 4lb rise wouldn't stop him if in the same mood.

Age: 6|  Weight: 9-4  |  J: David Egan |  T: B J Llewellyn|  OR: 67|  CD

Would have needed Sandown comeback run but now returns to a track where he has a very good record and off a lower mark than his last victory so would think there is better to come.

Age: 5|  Weight: 9-2  |  J: Tom Marquand |  T: A W Carroll|  OR: 65|  D

Dual Southwell winner in the past but had lost his way until showing much more when fourth behind a subsequent winner at Newmarket. If able to build on that he should play a prominent role for trainer now in better form.

Age: 5|  Weight: 9-2  |  J: Ciaran McKee |  T: J G M O'Shea|  OR: 65

Won at Bath early last season but lost his way after that and comeback run offered no immediate hope and not hard to look elsewhere.

Age: 6|  Weight: 9-0  |  J: S M Levey |  T: Julia Brooke|  OR: 63|  D

Has had a few breaks in his career so it was encouraging to see him shape nicely when fourth behind La Musee at Newcastle last month though has to cope with a marked drop in trip now.

Age: 4|  Weight: 8-11  |  J: K T O'Neill |  T: J Scott|  OR: 60

Some ability on belated debut last summer but didn't build on that on two further runs. Now goes into handicaps and only of interest if market speaks in her favour.

Age: 7|  Weight: 8-10  |  J: Rossa Ryan |  T: Grace Harris|  OR: 59|  D

Pair of low grade wins when trained in Ireland. Too keen on latest run for current yard here last month over 2m so the drop in trip is a plus though others make more appeal.

Age: 8|  Weight: 8-6  |  J: George Rooke |  T: Mrs S Leech|  OR: 55

Coming back from a long absence when offering little at Kempton last week. Very lightly raced on the Flat and eligible for much lower grade contests.

Golden Wolf (11/4), Sula Island (3/1), Globetrotter (7/1), Singing The Blues (8/1), Temur Khan (10/1), Borak (12/1), Sea Sculpture (12/1), Nearly Famous (14/1), Ascot Day (14/1), Ruby Wine (25/1), Buonarotti Boy (25/1), Simbirsk (25/1)

GOLDEN WOLF won in the style of a well handicapped horse at Newmarket last time out and sets the standard with the return to this longer trip no problem. He gets the vote, though Tony Carroll also saddles Temur Khan who showed more last time and if able to build on that has the look of a well treated sort so the market should be revealing. Globetrotter, a rare runner here for his yard could be the pick of the remainder.
  1. Golden Wolf
  2. Temur Khan
