Successful in three races, two of them handicaps last year over middle-distances before going off the boil towards the end of the year. Shaped as if better for the run on reappearance on AW (12.5f), needs to find more to defy a mark of this quality.
Lightly-raced sort (missed 3yo season), has come back strongly as a 4yo backing up a good reappearance effort with two AW handicap wins over 1m2f/1m3f (made all both times). Well drawn to go from the front again, may do better again but will need to.
Dual course winner either side of the New Year over a furlong shorter the blinkers worn for the first-time clearly working the oracle. Winning spree ended over 1m4f at Lingfield when last seen, still in good heart, bumped into well treated winner.
Capitalised on a good position in a tactical affair to win a Windsor handicap (11.5f, good/firm) last summer, mostly moderate performances since then. Looked to need the run on recent Newmarket return (1m4f), mark hardly makes him look well-treated.
Course winner, 1m3f, (yard in good form); had a decent 3yo season ended with a couple of late-season efforts here over his winning trip (had the run of the race both times). May do better as a 4yo although he's doesn't look that well treated.
Dual C&D winner off lower marks during a purple patch in 2018 (won five from six in that spell). Without a win since then (suffered two long breaks); shaped well after latest absence at Lingfield (poorly placed, finished well), interesting sort.
Acquitted himself well last year in three runs always looking as though he had more to give in terms of potential. Connections appeared a little undecided as to his trip, ran into a much-improved rival when last seen; AW debut off a favourable mark.
Last seen over hurdles (pulled-up), now makes his debut for a new yard returning to the Flat (0-3 on AW). Won over 1m6f at Ffos Las back in August off 5lb lower (suited by softer conditions), others mount a more persuasive case.
Promising type, very lightly-raced for one of his age, showed his quality when winning minor event at Epsom (10.1f, heavy) in good style. Shaped very well in a 1m4f Newmarket handicap (looks strong form) on return, remains open to progress.
Won a couple of handicaps in the latter half of 2019 over this sort of trip before being put in her place when trying Listed company at Bath (1m6f, soft). 0-2 on the AW and has work to do off this mark (9lb above last winning mark); best watched.
Forecasts
Palavecino (2/1), Prejudice (5/1), Emirates Knight (6/1), Edinburgh Castle (6/1), Landue (7/1), City Tour (16/1), Vindolanda (16/1), Bo Samraan (18/1), Jersey Wonder (22/1), Darksideoftarnside (100/1)
A good handicap which looks to be the highlight on the card and it won’t be surprising if it doesn’t take some winning. EDINBURGH CASTLE a very lightly-raced sort continues to have the look of one to follow having shaped well on his return at Newmarket a big move into the race probably leaving him vulnerable at the death; a run that will have brought him on. Both Prejudice and Landue have shown promise, the former giving notice of better to come last year and the latter doing the same in a recent reappearance. City Tour will be winning races in this grade but may just need this while Palavecino needs to progress again to complete a hat-trick.
- Edinburgh Castle
- Prejudice
- Landue
