Winner on second start at Nottingham when staying on late to score; will stay further this year and likely ground no problem, but giving a penalty away to some potentially smart sorts might be more tricky.

Not a lot of encouragement in two starts last year but looks the sort to do better once going up in trip, and possibly when handicapped after today; one to monitor.

Well held on only start at Salisbury last year, gelded since then; this looks a bit too tough for him at this stage.

Well down the field in two starts last year, although in his defence, he took on some pretty stiff opposition; might be best watched today, but one for handicaps later down the line; has been gelded.

Not cheap at $725,000 as a yearling, and bred to be smart, being a full brother to useful US winner Kitten's Cat; might not want a lot of rain for debut but yard can ready them first time and he has to be on the shortlist.
€85,000 yearling, half-brother to several winners, including the useful Soviet Rock; this looks a suitable enough test for his debut, but others make a bit more appeal on paper.

Half-brother to three other winners, including the useful sprinter Russian Spirit; yard get debut winners and the booking of Ryan Moore cathces the eye; needs a market check at the very least.

No show at big prices in a pair of maiden/novice events last year and hard to make a solid case for today.
Gelded for debut, and not much to shout about on pedigree, dam being a minor 6f winner (for this trainer); best watched on debut.

Cable Bay half-brother to smart 2-y-o 6f winner Earl of Leitrim and useful 5f-7f winner Mambo Paradise; shaped with promise behind a couple of useful sorts on debut at Sandown last year and will improve, but no guarantees this trip is what he wants.

Forecasts

Nasraawy (1/1), Glaer (11/4), Ozgood (5/1), Tremor (7/1), Southern Dancer (15/2), Cosa Orga (12/1), Russian Virtue (14/1), Seadance (20/1), Marion's Boy (28/1), Silver Cliffs (80/1), Intercessor (200/1)

Verdict

Nasraawy makes a lot of appeal on his pedigree but a lot of rain could scupper his chance, and perhaps TREMOR can put his experience to good use. Giving a penalty away won't be easy but he has experience and given his Nottingham win came on soft ground, any further rain isn't a problem. Russian Virtue is the other to make plenty of appeal on paper and any money for him needs noting. Glaer might look the yard's second string but you can expect plenty of improvement on his one start at Newcastle, and can't be discounted.
  1. Tremor
  2. Russian Virtue
  3. Nasraawy
