Improved to win her second start when dropped down 1f from her debut to win at Chepstow over 7f (race placed an emphasis on stamina). Upped 1m2f for her final (well beaten); race contained plenty of winners, progress needed to defy this mark.
Moderate for the most part last year he has slipped below his last winning mark which makes him of interest. At his best in a strongly-run race, he can often travel well but does have a habit of being his own boss; may enjoy this test.
Lightly-raced for his age, caught the eye on his handicap debut (last run for Simon Crisford) off this mark at Brighton (1m, good). Given plenty to do, finished with running left, makes his debut for this yard, likely more to come this year.
Failed to win last season and his only win came in a Thirsk minor event (7f, soft) getting on for two years ago. New yard if they can rejuvenate him have a reduced mark to work with but he's still not won a handicap; wide draw far from helpful.
Dual 7f AW winner early last year for James Fanshawe but rather lost his way since (sold for 6,000gns). Now on debut for this yard but has looked quirky in the past (races freely, carries head awkwardly); best watched tackling 1m for first time.
Took an age to get back on the winning trail, then won three time in two months last year over 7f-1m. Fair sort on his day, still not badly handicapped, travels well but does need the race to fall his way; all four wins off less than 14 day breaks.
Wind surgery prior to his two starts last year appeared to make very little difference to his ability to break his maiden status. 0-14 now, looks unreliable, has a long absence to deal with and a wide draw has hardly helped his cause either.
Won first time the hood was removed for this yard at Newmarket (1m, good) last summer, won in good style off a 6lb lower mark. Lost her way on the AW late-2019; but is well drawn and the addition of Silvestre De Sousa is a definite plus.
Godolphin reject (ran three times in that ownership); went backwards from quite a promising stable/handicap debut for these connections last time switched to the AW. Now back on turf and dropped in grade off a relatively attractive mark; interesting.
Four-time winner at Newcastle at up to 1m confirming promise of his previous run to score his first win for this yard. Nudged up 4lb for that win the question is not the mark but whether he can be as successful switched to turf.
Not won since he was trained in Ireland by Ger Lyons but did enough last time in first-time cheekpieces to prove he still has ability when close up at Newcastle (1m, slow) last time. Not one to write off at this level despite the barren spell.
1-11 last season with the win coming in first-time cheekpieces under a more attacking ride than usual down in grade/trip at Carlisle (1m, good). That was his first handicap win for two years, ran well afterwards, all wins off far shorter absences.
Forecasts
Angel's Whisper (6/4), Harry George (9/2), Turntable (11/2), Elusive Heights (14/1), Placebo Effect (14/1), Najib (14/1), Donnelly's Rainbow (14/1), Zephyrina (20/1), Mustaqbal (22/1), Bertog (33/1), Stronsay (33/1), Astrospeed (125/1)
Not the best handicap in terms of quality but it should see a spirited contest with one or two noteworthy types in opposition. The lightly-raced TURNTABLE gets the overall vote on his debut for the Chris Wall yard having shown considerable promise at Brighton last autumn and this is a slightly weaker heat. Najib and Angel’s Whisper are a pair that could be worth noting both have shown a level of ability that could see them worth supporting at this level, the latter looks well positioned for an attacking De Sousa ride. Elusive Heights despite a bleak win column in recent times is lurking dangerously as is Mustaqbal although he does have his own ideas about the game.
- Turntable
- Angel's Whisper
- Najib
