Just one win on turf and 1lb above his last winning handicap mark but has given the impression he has a race in him from this mark. Habitual slow starts are the issue though and that has to be a concern again on return; wears first-time hood.
C&D winner on return last season and appreciates quick ground. Back on his last winning handicap mark and despite a low key end to last season, he could be interesting here given his record fresh since joining this yard.
His career best efforts have all come on fast ground and only 2lb higher than his winning mark at Bath in July. Won first time up last season and respected with Morris booked (mainly ridden by claimers last year).
Dubawi gelding (expensive purchase) who has only found one too good on his first two career starts. Form of his latest second at Nottingham not done any favours since though and opening mark looks stiff enough for now.
Won on return last year, in and out of form subsequently but got the better of Buckingham at Epsom in September from a 2lb lower mark. Tailed off on two subsequent outings and hard to gauge what to expect on return.
All three of his wins have come on AW but has shown bits of form when tried on fast ground on turf. Disappointed on his latest couple of starts earlier in the year and needs to bounce back; dropped 1lb.
All his best form has come on turf, on quick ground over this sort of trip and back on his last winning mark following some below par efforts on AW. Record fresh is poor though (hasn't beaten a rival home in previous seasonal returns).
Won three of his last four starts in 2019, culminating in a career best at Windsor in 2019. Runner-up franked that form and every chance he can go on improving this year; booking of De Sousa a plus.
Well backed when off the mark at the third attempt in maiden company at Windsor in July. Opening mark looks fair and could be more to come this season.
Yet to win in six starts and while he's run with credit at times, he's been beaten at short odds on several occasions, too keen on several of his runs. May do better this year and first-time hood could help but needs improvement to defy this mark.
Forecasts
Maydanny (4/1), Rum Baba (9/2), City Wanderer (9/2), Two Bids (9/2), Balgair (11/2), Arigato (9/1), First Response (20/1), Buckingham (28/1), Wind In My Sails (33/1), Casement (40/1)
A tricky handicap but a chance is taken on BALGAIR who has a good record fresh. He was a course and distance winner on his seasonal return in 2019 and the ground is forecast to be in his favour this time around. City Wanderer and Rum Baba are two four-year-olds who are unexposed and may be capable of building on their wins at the end of their three-year-old campaigns.
- Balgair
- City Wanderer
- Rum Baba
