Returns from a fair absence having looked fair in handicaps last season on turf/AW. Ran one of his better races when last seen over 1m at Kempton although off this mark the handicapper looks in control.
Last run on the Polytrack resulted in a Lingfield win over 1m2f prior to three placed efforts on the snow at San Moritz over a variety of distances. Whilst those last three efforts showed her to be in good heart she's never won off a mark this high.
C&D winner on his penultimate start confirming the promise he showed on his first outing for this yard. That was just his second win two years on from his first; ran well up in grade at Newcastle last time; eased here, high on the shortlist.
Gelded since he was last seen (returns from a significant absence) when running in a Newmarket conditions race (found the task a bit too difficult). Lightly-raced for one of his age he makes his Polytrack debut; mark looks stiff enough.
Hard to ignore around here given his six C&D wins and he's slipped back to be just 1lb above that last winning mark. Work to do with Papa Stour having finished well behind that one (ran too free) last time; may do better if he settles.
Consistent sort on turf who won twice last year over 1m1f/1m2f one of those wins coming under Tom Marquand. Failed to make much impression on his first AW run of the year; fared better last time (did well from a poor position); trip on the short side
Arrives with a career record that reads 0-17 (0-9, AW) after running poorly last time over 7f struggling badly in a much lower grade. Could be given some sort of chance on his earlier handicap efforts (run well here before) but is up in grade.
Forecasts
Papa Stour (6/4), Torochica (4/1), Chairmanoftheboard (9/2), Havana Rocket (7/1), Bullington Boy (10/1), Long Call (10/1), Samphire Coast (16/1)
The form that PAPA STOUR showed last time when running creditably in a Newcastle Class 2 contest would if repeated be easily good enough to take a contest like this. A clear-cut winner on his last C&D run he’s given another good chance to record a further victory. Samphire Coast has work to do with the selection but he can’t be ignored off this mark over a C&D he knows so well while Havana Rocket despite a fairly stiff mark does have the look of an unexposed type if he’s ready to rock-and-roll after an absence. Bullington Boy would need others to falter but with some of his better effort having come here any support should be noted with a good apprentice on board.
- Papa Stour
- Samphire Coast
- Havana Rocket
