Made little impression on his debut at Kempton last year, fading out of things after leading early. No obvious chance unless improving for the surface.

Showed nothing first two starts but did a lot better when fourth at Wolverhampton in January (sent off 200-1), beaten under 8l; this is weak enough for him to be considered if he can improve on that a little.

Little to recommend her on her six starts in bumpers/maidens so far, sent off huge prices last two and looking in need of more of a trip. Others preferred.

Fifth on debut (for Phil McEntee, now moved to Richard Guest) at Wolverhampton in January wasn't a bad effort, particularly as he pulled hard early; needs to settle better but has place chances if he can.

Good debut at Wolverhampton in December, defying his 80-1 SP with a staying-on 2l third but his last of six at Lingfield last time was a backwards step. Better to concentrate on that debut effort and has chances if repeating.

Has finished midfield in two starts at Newcastle to date, far from disgraced either occasion despite being a bit keen; should handle this surface and not out of it if improving a little.

Has the benefit of a run here, that when finishing a staying-on fifth to Lion Tower here in his debut last month. That form isn't anything special but he does at least handle the surface, which has to count for something.

Looked very much in need of the experience when fifth on debut at Newcastle just over a fortnight ago but was getting the hang of things late. Breeding gives hope he'll take to the surface and he's not out of it if improving a little.

Looks the one to beat on his second to Queen Of all here last time out, staying on at one pace and was clear of the third. Repeat of that may well be good enough and there ought to be more improvement in the locker too.

Excellent debut effort when staying on to finish a 5l second a ready winner at Newcastle two weeks ago, and the fact he was sent off 66-1 suggests little was expected; different surface to contend with but that's one of the better pieces of form.

Has run with credit on both starts at Newcastle, showing steady improvement from her first start to second, beaten just over 2l last time out despite being a bit keen; good chance she takes to this surface and she looks one of the main players.

Well held on only start to date, that coming at Newcastle last November, and although she's likely to do better this year, can only really be watched today.

Forecasts

Mesmeric (5/2), Betushka (3/1), Dande (4/1), Shoot To Win (7/1), Captain St Lucifer (11/1), Ingleby Command (16/1), El Agronomo (25/1), Aces N Kings (33/1), Summerbridge (40/1), Convivial (66/1), Its All Clover Now (66/1), Brute Force (80/1)

Verdict

Mesmeric is probably the one to beat on his second here last week but there are potential improvers all over the place and BETUSKHA looks one of them. Her pedigree gives her a fair chance that this surface will prove suitable and she wouldn't need a lot more than she's shown in her two starts to date to come out on top. Little was expected of Shoot To Win on his debut at Newcastle but he stayed on nicely in the closing stages and should improve again. If Captain St Lucifer can repeat his debut effort rather than the lacklustre one he threw in last time, he'd have every chance too.
