Three wins on the AW this season, the latest coming at this track in January. Improvement seemingly stopped when fourth of 10 at Kempton (7f) last month and while considered, he may be too high in the weights.
Victorious on her debut over C&D over a year ago and yet to win since. Has run some encouraging races however including third of six at Kempton (6f) 22 days ago. Place possibilities at best.
Four-time winner for Richard Hughes, with latest win coming in January in claiming company. Modest stable debut when sixth at Lingfield (6f) earlier this month and could come on for that. Market should guide.
Promising sort for Clive Cox but not seen to best effect for this yard in two starts, tailing off on stable debut before never nearer ninth at Kempton (7f) last month. Significant bounce back required.
Admirable C&D winner who has started to become inconsistent of present. Fared better than result suggested when fifth at Lingfield (6f) last time and while not the most trustworthy, he would be dangerous to ignore.
Course winner whose latest win came at Lingfield in January, but last seen finishing fourth of seven in C&D handicap under two weeks ago. 1lb lower for this and entitled to considerations.
Kempton winner in November but well out of sorts since, including when ninth of 10 at that venue (6f) four days ago. Tries cheekpieces for the first time but needs to prove his wellbeing.
On a losing run but is a three-time C&D winner in the past. Looked slightly out of sorts but returned to form with fine third in 5f handicap here on latest start. Trip is no issue so dangerous to dismiss.
Impressive 5-10 last year but has bombed out on each of his last four starts, including when ninth of 11 at Newcastle (5f) in November. Not seen since and entitled to need this effort.
On a losing run dating back 16 efforts. Found 5f too sharp when fifth of six at Southwell at the start of the month and while coming into this on a reduced mark, his poor record is a concern.
Previous course winner who hasn't been anywhere near his best form lately. Yard switch hasn't rejuvenated him and latest last of nine suggests this task will be incredibly tough.
Forecasts
Split Down South (7/2), Venture (4/1), Fen Breeze (5/1), Lalania (6/1), Swiss Pride (6/1), Suzi's Connoisseur (10/1), Excellent George (12/1), Golden Force (12/1), Nick Vedder (20/1), Omran (25/1), Camachess (33/1)
A race in which plenty have questions to answer, preference is for EXCELLENT GEORGE to belatedly get back to winning ways. The eight-year-old boasts impressive C&D form and his latest effort suggested the spark is coming back into him and this trip is expected to suit better. Swiss Pride was a good yardstick for his previous yard and while his latest wins have come in easier company, there is every chance he will improve on his recent stable debut effort, while the likes of Fen Breeze and Lalania have previous C&D wins under their belt but have been found wanting slightly in this type of company.
- Excellent George
- Swiss Pride
- Fen Breeze
