Failed to win in four attempts in National Hunt flat races, showing encouraging form on just one occasion. Makes Flat debut and is a half brother to 2000 Guineas victor Cockney Rebel. Betting likely to prove informative.

Ran nowhere near market expectations when he broke a blood vessel on debut in a weak contest at Southwell (1m3f; standard) in November. Well-supported for that contest (EVSf), but has something to prove after disappointing.

Proved hugely underwhelming for former yard (turned over when sent off favourite on three occasions). Looked regressive towards the end of last season, and difficult to know what to expect on his seasonal/stable debut. Wears first-time tongue-tie.

By Sea The Stars and is a half-brother to a couple of winners. Gelded ahead of debut, which is slightly concerning. Respected and a market check is advised with this newcomer.

Some good pieces of form to his name which entitles him to have claims in this field. This extra furlong looked like it was sure to benefit him when he was third over 1m3f here when last seen. Makes seasonal reappearance.

Tailed off on Flat debut for Amanda Perrett at Salisbury back in May 2019. Enjoyed a decent time of things since being sent hurdling for new yard. Unlikely to play a leading role, but of interest once sent handicapping.

Not completely disgraced on debut when seventh at Lingfield (1m2f; standard) in December, and he should enjoy success once sent handicapping for this yard. Can't be fancied in this given the deficit he must try and reverse with Merry Vale though.

Not been seen since pulling-up on hurdles debut at Newbury (2m; soft) in December. Was never able to get on terms with his rivals in two starts prior to that under this code. Shown nothing to suggest he can even be competitive in a race like this.

Goes back up in trip after finishing tailed off over 1m at Southwell (1m; standard) in October when last seen. Now has first start for new yard, but on what he showed for George Margarson he is easily opposable.

Represents stable currently enjoying a 38% strike-rate in the last two weeks, and she is a major player on the strength of her third at Windsor (1m2f; good to soft) in contest won by the exciting Hamish. Steps up in trip on AW debut.

Placed in all three of her bumpers at 1m2f, and this doesn't look as strong as any of those races on paper as she tackles 1m4f for the first time. Half-sister to a 2m hurdle winner, so should stay and could show improved form.

0-3 in bumpers, and only one of those three runs offered any real promise. Yard/jockey combo enduring a quiet spell at present. Best watched ahead of debut on the level in first-time blinkers.

Forecasts

Omnivega (2/1), Paseo (10/3), Merry Vale (7/2), Mizuki (10/1), Dante's View (10/1), Latin Knight (12/1), Lexington Flair (33/1), Polar Cloud (50/1), Handsome Samson (50/1), Scarlett Sun (66/1), Scarlett O'halo (100/1), Royal Born (100/1)

Verdict

This can be quickly narrowed down to three who have the form in the book. After she was third behind the 108-rated Hamish back in June, Mizuki would have serious claims. Se has a small bit to prove after not being seen since that effort, despite still being respected given the form of her yard. Omnivega is another one for the shortlist after he produced another solid placed effort when third over 1m3f here back in September and he also represents in-form connections. The selection is MERRY VALE, whose trainer holds a 22% strike-rate at Kempton. She has ran to a good level on each of her three career starts & can improve for the application of blinkers & step up to 1m4f.
  1. Merry Vale
  2. Mizuki
  3. Omnivega
