Won three times on the Flat (turf) for Richard Fahey (7f-1m2f) but hasn't shown any signs of life since joining this trainer for 45,000gns at the Newmarket Autumn Sale; was always in rear (150-1) over hurdles at Doncaster on Thursday.
Likeable type; has shot up the weights (by 14lb) since switched back to AW racing this winter; thrashed the reopposing International Law (now 10lb better off) by 4½L over C&D on his penultimate start; is much respected.
Hasn't beaten a single rival since returning from wind surgery, and it's possible that he's finally paying the price for the toughness and durability shown for many a year (kept continually busy); the handicapper is showing leniency.
Made the frame under Cameron Iles at Lingfield (1m) on his penultimate start, and probably found the 6f trip on the sharp side next time; that said, he's yet to win on the AW (0-9) which serves to dilute any enthusiasm gained from a falling mark.
Just the sole win since breaking his maiden here (7f) in May 2016; slowly into stride and always on the back foot as a result when finishing approximately 5L fourth to Ghaith on his penultimate start; extra yardage helpful?
Comfortable winner of a C&D claimer in November, beating fellow joint-favourite First Flight by 1L; running to a similar level of form in stronger races since (Class 3 & 4 handicaps); this stablemate of Mr Top Hat could be worth chancing.
Has hit form since dropped back in trip (to 1m); 6lb higher than when beating Thechildren'strust by a short-head at Lingfield in December; narrowly failed to double-up at Chelmsford five weeks ago; tonight's wide draw isn't ideal.
Won at Brighton (1m2f) and Newmarket (1m1f) last summer; remains 7lb above his last winning mark and is yet to score on the AW (0-3); finished 3½L behind Fields Of Dreams at Chelmsford (1m) five weeks ago.
Won by a nose over C&D (penultimate) improving an already healthy Wolverhampton record; soundly beaten (second) by the likeable Singing Sheriff latest; 10lb better off for a 4½L beating; trainer saddled a double on Thursday (Newcastle).

Forecasts
Singing Sheriff (13/8), Long Call (13/2), Mickey (15/2), Fields Of Dreams (15/2), Scofflaw (8/1), International Law (8/1), Masham Star (10/1), Mr Top Hat (14/1), Zeyzoun (25/1), Borodin (100/1)
Roger Charlton's in-form Fields Of Dreams (holds Long Call) will undoubtedly be a popular choice among punters. However, from a wide draw (and over an extra 1½f) he can be opposed at the projected odds. Antony Brittain saddled a double at Newcastle on Thursday and his International Law is entitled to get closer to the likeable Singing Sheriff than was the case over C&D early in the New Year, but whether or not he can reverse those placings is debatable. For small-stakes a tentative value based each-way selection is SCOFFLAW. Dave Evans charge has performed consistently (in stronger Class 3 & 4 handicaps) since winning a C&D claimer in November.
- Scofflaw
