Place claims on the pick of her form but her inconsistency is a concern under top weight even though she's back down in grade. Her Polytrack form is moderate but the mare now has all the appliances in place in the hope she copes better this time.
C&D winner in December 2017 but lightly raced since then. Posted a respectable effort when fifth of ten on his return from a long break last month and sure to be sharper for the run. Rider assists with a 7lb claim; worth a betting check.
In good form on Tapeta at Wolverhampton at the back-end of last year but latest start was a step backwards. Has a bit to prove on only his third start at Kempton/on polytrack.
Missed most of last year and has made only a limited impact in four starts for his current yard. Was hampered 3f out last time so that run might be forgivable but previous form leaves a bit to be desired too. Others look stronger candidates.
Goes well fresh and has a healthy strike-rate for one so lightly raced in recent times. Needs to prove time isn't catching up with him and he's 0-16 on the AW. Still needs to be monitored closely in the betting.
On a reasonably competitive handicap mark if he can recapture his best. However, he's been off since last July and there has to be a suspicion that he'll need a run these days. Has experience of Polytrack from his days in Ireland, though.
Still a maiden and has so far been incapable of making the most of a plummeting handicap mark. Plenty to prove on first start since November (and was well beaten on his only previous visit to Kempton, in April 2018).
Had his problems but did show plenty of zest when second at Wolverhampton last month. Dangerously well handicapped if he can repeat the dose and has a knowledgeable AW jockey doing the steering. Could be good 'Each Way' value.
Being kept busy of late and can get competitive from only 4lb higher than last month's extended 1m4f win at Newcastle. Went close over C&D in this grade last time and no surprise if he's thereabouts again.
More scope than a few of the rest and encouraging that he was only beaten 3¾L when third over C&D last month. Nudged down 1lb since and he's still got some scope over the trip. One to consider if the market vibes are positive.
A low grade handicapper who is yet to taste success after 11 previous attempts. The mare did go close at this level at Newcastle just before Christmas but reverted to type last time and again looks opposable now she makes her Kempton debut.
Career has been punctuated by a couple of long absences there was little to get enthusiastic about after his latest return to action/debut for his current yard. Needs an awful lot to go his way from out of the handicap.
Finished just in front of Call Me Madam at Wolverhampton last month; an effort which at least proves this trip is within her compass. However, consistency isn't a strong point and her lack of reliable Polytrack form is off-putting.
Shown slight improvement since being upped in trip but was well held in modest company in both previous attempts over 2m and the fitting of cheekpieces might not be enough to initiate the level of improvement required.
Forecasts
Estrela Star (5/2), Accessor (7/2), In Demand (11/2), Sea Sovereign (9/1), Call Me Madam (12/1), Aumerle (12/1), Star Of Athena (14/1), Brinkleys Katie (14/1), Caged Lightning (20/1), Stynes (25/1), Prince Charmin' (25/1), Doctor Jazz (33/1), Miss Swift (40/1), Fennann (100/1)
ESTRELA STAR has a bit more scope than most of this lot and appeals for a small punt in a race that is unlikely to live too long in the memory for the 'also rans'. The selection tries this trip for just the second time in his career and, having relished the C&D challenge last month, the gelding could be well placed to return some of the faith shown in him that day (was 15/8 Fav at the off). Aumerle and Caged Lightning are a couple of other sporting options to consider for making the frame in pretty weak finale. Stynes goes well fresh and is far from outfaced on his return to action so also merits a betting check.
- Estrela Star
- Aumerle
- Caged Lightning
