This will be his 40th career start but his first outing on this unique surface returning from a fair absence. On a long losing run and underlined his recent inconsistency by going through 2019 without a win; others mount a more persuasive argument.
Cheekpieces return after first-time blinkers failed to produce a better performance in a 6f claimer here last time. His only win did come over this trip but he hasn't shown enough that would make him tempting to back despite a plummeting mark.
Yet to race on Fibresand connections will be hoping that she can start 2020 the same way she started 2019 with a win over this trip. Overall she has a fairly solid profile despite not recording another win, 4lb below her last winning mark; respected.
Five-time course winner with all those wins coming over 1m, now makes a rare appearance at 7f having fared poorly since his last win off a 6lb lower mark. Given a short break he returns back at his favourite track but the trip looks the wrong one.
In good form during September when he took back-to-back handicaps on turf/AW fir Roger Fell over 6f. Ran respectably in two further starts for that yard over different trips and now makes his stable/Fibresand debut; chance if he acts on this surface.
Three-time C&D winner who failed to complete a hat-trick last time but wasn't seen to best effect (race not run to suit). Ought to be capable off this mark despite that last time out failure; goes well for this rider, could well bounce back.
Came from a less than ideal position when finishing third at Wolverhampton last time; still looks unexposed, has to be of interest on her Fibresand debut. Still off the same mark by a sire who has a poor record on this surface.
Dual C&D winner in the early part of 2019 but hasn't really fired of late despite a mark that is falling back towards her last winning mark. Visor now on for the first-time to provide some spark, would need several of these to run below-par.
Can generally be relied on to run his race around here (has done all his Fibresand winning over 7f). Second here over 1m on New Year's Day he'll be suited by a return to this trip; hard to see him not being in the firing line again.
Seen only once in handicaps before failing to show much on debut at Leicester in the summer over 1m. Returns from a break to make her Fibresand debut (by Oasis Dream who has a fair record here); in good hands, interesting to see what the market says.
Three of her four career wins have been gained on Fibresand (one over C&D); found her good run of form coming to a halt last time. Visor worn for two of her wins last year is back on and she's not without hope if a short break has refreshed.
Naas 6f winner in August showing improved form to get off the mark in first-time blinkers. Has failed to hit the mark since then including on her AW debut, now makes her Fibresand debut with blinkers back on; something to find on recent form.
Forecasts
Break The Silence (2/1), Bee Machine (5/1), Elzaam's Dream (6/1), Chloellie (9/1), Muqarred (10/1), Sylviacliffs (12/1), Atalanta Queen (12/1), Fard (20/1), Robsdelight (20/1), Logi (25/1), Misty (25/1), Coffeemeanscoffee (33/1)
Several of these have C&D form with Bee Machine having won here twice recently and despite a failure last time he’s expected to bounce back here on a surface he really appreciates. BREAK THE SILENCE would have to be included in dispatches given his record here his consistency especially over this trip making him deserving of being the selection. Elzaam’s Dream can’t be ignored given her two recent solid Wolverhampton runs although she has to prove that she acts on this surface. Fard, Misty and Chloellie are three others that deserve consideration in a competitive heat with no clear candidate for winning honours.
- Break The Silence
- Bee Machine
- Elzaam's Dream
