Model of consistency all year and fully deserved to get his head back in front at Wolverhampton last time out; upped 3lb for that and different surface to contend with, but tries hard and will give it another good go.

Twice a winner here, and was in good form in the summer, winning back-to-back handicaps; not seen since August however, and this trip would be a bare minimum for him (wins come over further), so may be best watched today.

Three wins in 25 starts show he's tricky to win with, but he acts on this surface and it wasn't a total write off when sixth here last week; may be fitter for that too, and if negating tricky draw, has each-way chances from a fair mark.

Hard to knock his consistency, hitting the frame with great regularity and only went down by a neck over this trip at Kempton last time; 4lb rise for that is stiff enough though, and moderate draw is no positive either. Will try, but more to do.

Useful hurdler, has found life a bit harder in that sphere this season though and might appreciate a spin back on the Flat; has an all-weather win to his name too, and this mark looks fair enough, so could do better today.

Knocking on the door in his last two starts, second twice at Wolverhampton and deserves another win soon; they were over further but he is effective at this trip, so not discounted despite new higher mark now kicking in.

Just the one win in 11 starts, and no immediate improvement for switch to this yard on last three starts either; possible drop back from 2m might male a difference, and still relatively early days, but others more convincing all the same.

Last win did come off this mark but that was back in February at Newcastle, and efforts since then have been mixed, to say the least; well beaten at Wolverhampton latest and although he may be fitter for that, still lot to take on trust at present.

Back to some of his best form when scoring at Wolverhampton (12f) last time out, staying on well to win going away in the end; another 4lb on his back and a different surface ask new questions, but clearly in good heart.

Better known as a hurdler these days and not seen out on the Flat for some 18 months; form in that sphere this year has been moderate, but he might enjoy this surface and yard get plenty of winners here; worth a market check if nothing else.

Already on his third trainer after just nine starts, but has shown some form for latest yard in better races than this in the autumn; gelded since last seen as well, which could focus his mind, and is still unexposed; interesting.

Improving sort last year, winning twice at Chelmsford for another yard, but not seen out since an awful effort in the summer and now starts out life for new trainer. On that, best watched today.

Yet to score after 11 tries but his 3l fourth to Blue Medici at Wolverhampton last time a solid effort, especially as that came after a break; could strip fitter and every chance at the revised weights, so has each-way chances again.

Twice a winner this autumn/winter but they have come at his beloved Southwell where he seems to thrive on the slower surface; well beaten off at Chelmsford last time, and could find life hard again here.

Only had the three starts so open to improvement, and has been in the frame twice already; saying that, little bit disappointing she couldn't finish the job when made favourite last time, and wide draw here hardly helps her cause.

Forecasts

Sir Prize (4/1), Arabic Culture (5/1), Pirate King (6/1), Yellow Tiger (7/1), Blowing Dixie (8/1), Blue Medici (9/1), Battle Of Marathon (14/1), Emenem (14/1), Htilominlo (14/1), Seafarer (16/1), Petit Palais (16/1), Torbellino (25/1), Honorable (25/1), Calling The Wind (33/1), Cry Wolf (50/1)

Verdict

Another wide open handicap. Petit Palais is of some interest now returned to the Flat, and might enjoy this surface a bit more than the slogging around on winter jumping ground which he has been doing lately. Top weight Arabic Culture has refound some form and will try hard to follow up his Wolverhampton win, and Blue Medici is another last time out winner that cannot be discounted. But HTLIOMINIO wasn't far behind Blue Medici there and might well improve a chunk for that run, his first after a short break, and he'll surely break his duck sooner rather than later. He's worth a small bet to do that today.
  1. Htilominlo
  2. Petit Palais
  3. Arabic Culture
