Horse A-Z
Lightly-raced 68-rated Flat performer, lost out in a head-bobber to Midnights' Gift on hurdles bow at Fakenham (front two clear). This is tougher but should be right in the mix.

Motivator filly has shown some promise on the Flat in France but goes in fairly deep on hurdles/stable bow now.
3

Rated in mid-60s having won just one of 15 Flat starts for Richard Fahey; interesting to see what the market makes of her going over timber for the first time in good company.

Some promise in four starts on the Flat for Roger Varian and came back from an absence for new connections to finish third on hurdles debut in October at Wincanton; may have built on that bar late fall at Ludlow next time. More demanded.

Ran well enough in a juvenile hurdle at Stratford (2m½f, good) in July on sole start; will need to better that in this company but open to progress.
6

French bumper winner, found only one too good on hurdles/stable bow at Ludlow (2m, soft) last month and could be capable of significant improvement for top connections.

2-6 over timber, most recently scoring in fortuitous fashion at Wetherby (2m, good to soft) in October; well held back there in a Listed race since and improvement called for in first-time visor.

Progressing in three spins over hurdles and should get on the board somewhere, but has 16L to find on Midnights' Gift and Break The Rules from Fakenham run.

Modest form in three hurdles starts in Ireland to date, leaves her with plenty to find in this company and hard to see things altering dramatically.

Achieved a mark of 80 from four Flat runs, winning once, and very game despite not being foot-perfect over the flights to hold off Break The Rules at Fakenham (2m, good) in October on hurdles bow. More to come.
Vocalised filly, some smart Flat form in Ireland for Jim Bolger. Not at best recently but has joined Richard Newland and well worth market check on hurdles/stable bow.

Has gone close in Flat maidens up to a mile, but very hard to predict how she'll get on tackling this discipline on first start for Phil Kirby.

13-race maiden on the Flat and form in that sphere gives the Dark Angel filly something to find with a few of these. First crack at hurdling.
Achieved little in three maiden/novice stars on the Flat, better on hurdles bow at Chepstow (2m, soft) in October but pulled up since at Sedgefield and best watched for now.

Forecasts

Midnights' Gift (15/8), Gavrocheka (4/1), Break The Rules (9/2), Operatic Export (6/1), Galice Macalo (11/1), Fantastic Ms Fox (18/1), Lady Shanawell (20/1), Mianna (20/1), Local Affair (25/1), Fleursals (25/1), Soft Summer Rain (50/1), Red Archangel (50/1), Caballine (50/1), Ravenscar (66/1)

Verdict

A slender margin split Midnights' Legend (first) and Break The Rules (second) when they pulled a long way clear at Fakenham last time out. Both are open to improvement and shortlisted for this contest. French import Gavrocheka should improve Ludlow hurdling debut for her leading connections but a chance is taken on OPERATIC EXPORT. She was competitive in some good Flat events in Ireland and could well go on to better things over jumps having joined this excellent trainer.
  1. Operatic Export
  2. Midnights' Gift
  3. Break The Rules
